If they get caught, they can just claim that they are only expanding the definition of marriage, and demonstrating their solidarity with gays.

Yeeeeah, because respect for the rights and dignity of fellow human beings, in this case gays, is best expressed by showing disrespect for the rights and dignity of another human being, hypothetically a wife you've vowed fidelity toward... Makes perfect sense?
