Here we have a Middle American's idea of how gay men actually are and how we actually live our lives. In his little head, this scenario is exactly what could happen and he wants to stop it no matter what. I like to dress nicely. Why yes, I do appreciate camp. If I had to be in the army I could do that, and do it well, too.

There are just as many macho gays as there are "fabulous" gays.
You have always had some gays in the military, they were just forced to keep quiet about it. And, lets face it, war is not about having sex, but about killing people. The very opposites, one creates life, the other extinguishes it.
As long as the war is not fought in bedrooms, there is no real difference between gays and straights. The bedroom is the only place where it matters if you are gay or straight.
Having gays (and women) in the army fighting against the Talibans is like having black people in the army fighting against the Nazis.
It's like "look at us, we allow everybody to participate, and we are so much stronger for it".
Don't come here, okay? You'd hate our neutrality and our desire to include everyone in society.

The funny thing is that when my uncle(an officer in the Spanish navy)served like 25 years ago, he was sent to West Point for some NATO stuff and he had the bad luck to be witness with a passional crime in which one sailor killed, accidentally, 12 other comrades to make his stranged ex-lover to look like a fool because he dumped him for another. Well, so much for "the times when there were real men"

News flash, dumbass: THERE ARE ALREADY GAYS IN THE MILITARY. And they are not prancing about playing Cher records or giving out fashion advice or any of that other crap, because they're gay PEOPLE, not gay stereotypes. Grow up and accept that stereotypes are not gospel. The gay men and women in our military are fit to serve. They went through basic training and learned the ways of war to defend their homeland. Some of them are even serving in Afghanistan as we speak, and they're doing a helluva job.
