Once again giving lie to the leftist talking point that "No one is pro-abortion," Planned Parenthood is publishing abortion-themed Valentine's Day cards. Because nothing says "love" like murdering the child that results from unprotected sex.
The cards feature a large heart on a white background with the message, "I love pro-choice doctors" and a link to the pro-abortion group's web site.
The cards are designed to be sent to abortionists, to thank them for making it possible for people to have unprotected recreational sex without consequences; which is the most important progressive value.

I'm pretty sure that they're thanking the doctors for still being willing to practice a medical procedure that has such a stigma attached to it.
I'm willing to bet you don't know a single person who has had need of an abortion. Not everyone who has an abortion did it because they were some sort of slut that couldn't keep their legs closed.
Also--FUCK YOU and your misappropriation of the word 'progressive'. Unprotected recreational sex is a bad thing. It really shouldn't happen but hey. You want to risk your health and sometimes pregnancy, go ahead. It's America.
Speaking of which--you are aware that at the time of the American Revolution, what the founding fathers did was considered progressive?
No? You weren't?
Yeah. Not surprised.
It's always been my opinion that what the so-called "pro-life" crowd really considers wrong about abortion isn't the fact that tiny clumps of human cells aren't being allowed to grow into human babies and be born as such, but the fact that abortions allow women to avoid some of the (in the pro-lifers' opinion, well-deserved) negative consequences of enjoying sex (specifically, giving birth to one or more unwanted children).
I never thought I'd actually see a fundie come right out and say so, though.
Um...we're not strawmen. None of us thinks like "Oh shit, I LOVE killing babies!" I personally stand with the pro-choice crowd because I'd rather see abortion clinics than coathangers, alleys and newborn babies freezing to death in dumpsters.
Nothing wrong with recreational sex without consequences, now, unprotected is another story.
You know, there's a solution here, maybe if we could cast off the puritanical shackles placed on society here in America and introduce some proper sex education we wouldn't have to deal with as many uninformed people having accidental pregnancies due to unprotected sex.
You know what that would accomplish? why, less abortions!
But you'd probably hate that, no hotbutton issue to get people into office with via pandering to idiots and spreading "BABYKILLER!" styled propaganda.
I just looked at the cards. Nothing about them says "Let's abort those babies!!"
All the cards are promoting is safe sex.
I'm actually sick of Planned Parenthood's name being drug through the mud. As a teen--on my own--this place was a lifesaver. No, I was never running to them for an abortion, but they provided me with birth control and medical exams free of charge.
God forbid that we rise out of the Dark Ages and allow women usually free of charge care for their bodies!!
Sorry if I went off there. I'm just sick of this bull. If I didn't have Planned Parenthood giving me and other teens like me options for protecting ourselves, I would have been a teen mother and "a drain on this country". Can't win with these fuckers.
[EDIT] Oh yeah, and if these jackasses were so smart, they'd know that Planned Parenthood does not do abortions. They can provide references and only that.
Nobody is pro killing babies. I am pro choice for I know that the world isn't black and white in that sometimes things happen. A woman/girl who is raped shouldn't be forced to carry it if she gets pregnant, a woman who will die if she gives birth shouldn't be forced to carry it, and many, many more things can go wrong. And if made illegal, women who want to end their pregnancy that can't afford to bribe a doctor could be desperate and use other means.
I have to thank Planned Parenthood as well, not because I accidentally got someone pregnant but rather they gave the fiancee (then girlfriend) and I birth control because well, humans have a sex drive.
Also let me say this since you seem to be in favor of absence only as well, absence only DOESN'T work. If I can find it, I post that report I read that said roughly that while teens that are taught proper sex with birth control begin having sex earlier, they have a lower teenage pregnancy and STD rate than those taught absence only.
Poe, surely? Has no-one watched South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut ?
Gregory: I must say, I don't believe I belong here with these rogues. I transferred from Yardale where I had a 4.0 grade point average.
Cartman: You're a fucking faggot, dude.
"...to thank them for making it possible for people to have unprotected recreational sex without consequences "
Or they could just use a condom. Or the woman could be on the pill. Or that new sub-dermal implant. Or several other forms of contraception.
You've got to be pretty fucking stupid to think anyone sees abortion as a viable and convenient alternative to real forms of contraception.
Prochoice means just that. It means women have the CHOICE to get an abortion or not.
Stop spouting off your wacked conspiracy online, you tard.
News flash, brain trust: Pro-Choice doctors are all for family planning, birth control, comprehensive sex education. Not "pro abortion".
Also, men have been having unprotected no consequence sex since the beginning of time. But only until recently, with DNA testing, have there been consequences for them. You just don't like the idea of women having the same options as men do. Sucks to be you!
Um, the cards sound a little hokey but you're missing the point. We're thankful for doctors that respect our right to make choices about our healthcare and who provide these services even in the face of danger and threats of violence and death. You know, by you loving Christians.
For the one millionth time, a baby being "unwanted" is not the only, nor the most common, reason for abortions.
to thank them for making it possible for people to have unprotected recreational sex without consequences
And herein lies the crux of your complaint: other people are out having fun getting laid and you aren't. That's why you're not only against abortion, but (illogically) against sex education and birth control, too. You don't give a damn about the babies; you just don't like that you can't use them as punishment for having recreational sex.
Wrong. Nothing says "love" like putting one's life on the line to help those in need, with little, if any, reward. Which is exactly what abortion providers do every day.
"The cards are designed to be sent to abortionists, to thank them for making it possible for people to have unprotected recreational sex without consequences; which is the most important progressive value."
Because God just won't tolerate recreational sex without life-damaging, future-ruining, proverty-creating consequences.
[...]making it possible for people to have unprotected recreational sex without consequences[...]
I always knew the pro life was about punishing people for having sex, but I never expected they would come out and say it without the usual "oh noes, dead babies" bullcrap.
@Berny: Those are the cards that they're talking about. When you do a search for the cards, the sites read like a game of Telephone. Some sites rants about how Planned Parenthood is promoting the use of condoms and promiscuity and it just goes on until the cards become "pro-abortion cards". Like no one would get outside of the stupid box just to look at the site themselves to learn the truth.
Go lie down on a table, spead your legs, and experience the physical pain and discomfort of an abortion, and then tell us again how that constitutes "sex without consequences", bitch.
Like I've said elsewhere; if the choice is there, more people will find the courage to decide to keep the fetus until it is born and becomes a child.
If there is no choice, and if the stigma of being an unwed mother is significant, more people will take the coat-hanger abortion way out, or commit suicide.
I've had unprotected recreational sex for years and years. None* resulted in a pregnancy, unwanted or otherwise.
* Or rather, one did, but it ended in a miscarriage in week 11.
Yes, nobody is pro-abortion. People are pro-choice.
Also, no, we liberals are actually pushing for PROTECTED recreational sex without consequences. That's why we want comprehensive sex ed in schools, so that people understand their options and why it's a good idea to use condoms.
"...to thank them for making it possible for people to have unprotected recreational sex without consequences..."
Is this really a bad thing? Or are you just angry because you can't get laid, and your religious beliefs would make you feel like a dirty sinner even if you did?
Wow... I agree that if people have sex, it ought to be protected, but I also think that abortion should be safe, legal, and available. A fetus is definitely alive; but so is sperm, and so is an ovum. But I don't see anyone mourning the deaths of the millions of sperm that die each time a man ejaculates. You know why? Cuz that doesn't count as murder. And neither does killing a fetus. A fetus is a clump of non-sentient cells; I think it's fine to abort it until the moment it becomes sentient and/or able to suffer and feel pain, which is at about the 26th week, if I remember correctly (maybe I don't).
I don't think abortion should be used over and over in place of preventive contraception methods (because to me that's just irresponsible, it's like walking down the street with the rabid dog that always bites you and then having to get a rabies shot each time, rather than take the obvious route of walking down a different street. Stupid and irresponsible), but I think it should be available to responsible people who have protected sex. Because, surprise surprise, *protected* sex can ALSO lead to pregnancy! Turns out the only 100% fool-proof contraception method is ABSTINENCE! Now where have I heard that before...? Oh yeah, in SEX ED class, where we all learned about how unprotected sex CAN in fact get you pregnant (it does NOT, in fact, only happen to other people), and about all the sorts of contraception methods that are available (including the "morning-after" pill; that technically counts as contraception, because it can take several hours after sex for the sperm to even reach the ovum, let alone for the zygote to become implanted in the wall of the uterus only at which time pregnancy, according to physicians, has actually begun). Pro-lifers need to make up their minds: Do they want to have no contraception/sex ed and lots of abortions (illicit or otherwise), or do they want lots of contraception/sex ed and relatively few abortions (illicit or otherwise)? MAKE UP YOUR MINDS. If you don't want contraception, then harping on abortion is hypocritical and just plain stupid; and vice versa.
buff114: AHHH So the truth comes out!!! They dont hate abortion, they hate other people having sex for fun.
In other news, water is wet. If they were really "pro-life", they'd have to abandon most of their so-called "morals" (e.g.: death penalty, war, letting the lazy poor die off, and many other values that Jesus didn't preach).
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
