Letter writer Tom Hurst made a valid comment regarding Canada’s Governor General and necromancy. Upon being sworn in, Michaelle Jean’s first action was to create her coat of arms, which bears several pagan symbols. And she was quite open in explaining what the pagan symbolism meant vis-a-vis her Haitian identity. It is disgusting that this Governor General would not deign to honour Canada’s titular head, Queen Elizabeth, by swearing allegiance to her in representing her interests here, but instead to honour Haiti’s pagan culture. Canada was founded on Judeo-Christian laws, not voodoo. No wonder Haiti is such a mess.
