Nineteenth century ideas like Mendelian genetics? How about nineteenth century BC ideas? Are those okay, too?

Now explain HERVs and why birds have genes for teeth and humans and chimps have identical defective genes for making vitamin C.

I find this last sentence interesting because it is this exact idea that Richard Dawkins addressed in TGSOE. The 19th century is the last time that it was "ok" to believe in ideas such as the virgin birth, the flood, Adam and Eve in a literal sense. Or was it TGD, I forget. It was one of those two though.

It's only now the uneducated few who still cling onto the 19th century ideas.
You owe me a new irony meter.

"It's only now the uneducated few who still cling onto the 19th century ideas."
Please be a poe, otherwise I may have just lost faith in humanity.
...Well, okay, I would if I hadn't already lost my faith in humanity a long time ago.

"It's only now the uneducated few who still cling onto the 19th century ideas."
Uh, no, the uneducated few are the ones rejecting the fossil record and evolution in favor of bronze-age ideas about science.

How can fundies claim with a straight face that genetics somehow disproved the theory of evolution?

The theory of evolution has nothing to do with modern Biology?!

Nothing to do with it? It has everything to do with biology.
Seriously, show us some findings from peer-reviewed scientific journals and we might take your idea into consideration.

Damn! Four years of my young life wasted on a biology degree and I'm still unedumacated.
It was in a great university, too.

It is a telling fact that ElProximo basically took a previous poster's positive (and correct) comment about Darwin and evolution and rewrote it in his own retarded and incorrect way.
Get an education ElProximo. Our work with the genetic record has only strengthened the case for evolution.

Modern evolution IS Mendelian genetics, in addition to Darwinian natural selection. That's like saying "Capitalism is dead. Long live the socio-monetary theories of Adam Smith!"
Methinks you aren't judging the science so much as placing every scientist you hear about into the categories "Christian" and "enemies."
Edit @JohnTheAtheist: No, that's sexual selection. Darwin's theory of natural selection is the ordinary, non-fucking foundation. [wink]

But it is what has come since Darwin's theory was realized that has virtually proven that evolution did not and could not occur and is still continuing to do so.
I have a degree in English and I can't parse this sentence. Time to put down the bong.

"Darwin was a great man who came up with a theory that actually has nothing to do with modern Biology."
Because natural selection is so very inconsequential.
"Genetics, the field of science established by Christian Creationist Gregor Mendel"
That a field was founded by a creationist doesn't make creationism true; it just means his science was well-supported.
"better technology in finding and categorizing fossils that plainly show stasis"
What now? Maybe in some cases, but not in all.
"many more fields of excellent biological research all lead to the conclusion that Evolution is scientifically impossible"
So. . . why, if evolution is scientifically impossible, are animal behavior, population biology, ecology, genetics, taxonomy, anatomy, molecular biology, cell biology, [insert biology field here] all taught with lots of evolutionary theory in the mix in universities around the world?

The quote is wrongly attributed. It is DrPepper12 that wrote this, not ElProximo.
ETA: I'm mistaken. It is ElProximo. Something weird about that site though. DrPepper said the same thing but seems to be disagreeing with it thought he wrote it first?
