A planet's defining physical characteristic is that it is massive enough for the force of its own gravity to dominate over the electromagnetic forces binding its physical structure, leading to a state of hydrostatic equilibrium. This effectively means that all planets are spherical or spheroidal. Up to a certain mass, an object can be irregular in shape, but beyond that point, which varies depending on the chemical makeup of the object, gravity begins to pull an object towards its own centre of mass until the object collapses into a sphere.
How did the... good god... You, sir, are proof god does not exist. If he did, he wouldn't allow such stupidity to occur.
Any being of sufficient intelligence, if ID were true, had to be designed by a higher intelligence. And it follows that that intelligence must have been designed by something higher still. If you say God always existed, then why not cut out that unnecessary step and say the universe always existed?

Also the planets actually are not perfectly round. Even the Earth itself is actually a slight oval.

There's this new idea in physics. Now, I know it's kind of "out there" and a bit on the radical side but apparently scientists think something called "gravity" may have something to do with why planets are round.
Weird, huh? Who'd believe something like that, right?

I think that was more or less the early Gnostic position. The God of the Bible is an inferior god who was created by some uber-god that we never see and has nothing to do with us. That's why the world is so flawed and people suffer senselessly from stuff like earthquakes and cancer - because God of the Bible is a screw-up.

Same reason the oceans and atmosphere are round: gravity.
There was nothing sudden about it. The first matter was hydrogen gas. Via a process called baryon synthesis, hydrogen was turned into other elements in stars. These then came together via gravity and became the matter that ended up making up the planets and other objects. They're round because they're densely packed, and the shape that fits the most matter into the smallest volume with the least surface area is a sphere.

Where are all the right angles, if things appear designed? They are very, very rare in nature, but dominate human designs, due to their simplicity, and efficiency.
Go outside, now look at your house. Note that it juts out from your planet thus forever ruining it's perfect sphere-i-ness, as does every hill, mountain, ocean, river, gully, trench, skyscraper, tree and living thing.

Premise one: Anything that exists, must have been created
Premise two: Anything that was created, by definition, is not God
Conclusion: God does not exist
The queston who made godis usually used as the response to a design argument.
If a complex world implies a creator, it follows that that creator is complex himself and thus needs a creator. The thing is this gets you stuck in an infitite regress, so it raises infinitly more problems than the thing it's trying to answer.
Just because that isn't your idea of god, doesn't mean logic hasn't kicked your ass once again.

So there was a time when they were not round and ~POOF~ the were all round? Simple physics, and by simple I mean grade school, simple physic says that any body at a certain mass according to composition will shape itself into a sphere. A phenomena that can be observed simply by looking at the moons orbiting mars and the gas giants and observing that the smallest, lowest relative mass moons have an irregular shape up to a certain point after which they are all spheroids.

It's not an excuse. The fact is, everything has an origin. This universe (the Big Bang). Every one of us (a mother & father). Do you expect me to accept that in all the infinite eons prior to him creating the angels, never mind we mere mortals, he just floated around in whatever dimension he resided in, and just arsed around doing nothing? For a human being that would make us go insane.

If the earth was flat, that would be better proof of your god (and not just because the bible implies that it's flat numerous times).
And we're not making an "excuse" asking where your god came from. We're just applying your baseless standard of "everything had to be created" to your god. After all, if your super-complex invisible friend can just pop into existence on his own, why can't the universe gradually come about through simple beginnings to complex forms?

What does "round" mean?
I mean, even to say "space on everyday scale could as well have been 45.17-dimensional in a different universe" is too conservative. Maybe there can even be a universe in which the term "dimension" doesn't make sense even from a mathematical point of view. And no, I don't mean zero-"dimensional". I mean: Just totally fucking crazy different in an unimaginable way.
What is shape itself? What is meaning itself?
But these retards are busy with asking why planets are round (as in: "round is objectively special/good").
