Or they want to cater to as wide an audience as possible. If you don't want to see books like that in stores, go to a Christian book store. Yes, people raised enough of a stink that they started stores that cater to people just like you.
And I doubt there was lynching when you were a teenager. Also, teenagers are a bit smarter than to allow themselves to convert solely because they saw a book in a bookstore. Even they need a little peer pressure and the desire to rebel against their parents (but that's generally just a phase they go through in order to establish themselves as independent people from their parents).

Of course the clerk tried to avoid eye contact with you, that's what you do to avoid people from attacking you when they're in an agitated state. Obviously the sales clerk had no control over ordering, and she told you that politely, but you had to bitch her out anyway. I don't care how old or outraged you are, you were incredibly rude to that woman. Maybe you should take a look at your own behaviour before you start decrying the fall of morality.
Reading the thread, some of the other commenters pointed out that she shouldn't of yelled at the sales clerk so she backtracked and said she didn't yell, she just asked nicely. Reading the original comment, I highly doubt that was the case.
Nice to know solidarity of abused retail workers transcends religion.
