While gay yuppies and their leftist friends celebrate DC's gay marriage law, the children and the poor suffer. Because the militants on the city council refused to exempt churches and faith-based organization from the ordinance, the Catholic Church will no longer be able to operate charities within the city.
But, who cares about a bunch of kids and homeless people as long as leftist elites get their "in yer face."

"But, who cares about a bunch of kids and homeless people"
The National Center for Children and Families.
Damn caring Baptists, always fucking up a good Catholic hissyfit.
Actually, the Catholic Church CHOSE to stop running those charities. "You're not going to persecute gays, so we're not gonna help the poor! So THERE! NYEH!" The only thing stopping them from running their charities is sour grapes.
And once again, nobody is getting "in yer face." They're just not being forced into the closet anymore. When will you fundies learn that civil liberties don't just apply to people you agree with?
Let me get this straight, the Catholic churches, who run charitable schemes for the homeless, said they wouldn't continue to run those schemes if gay marriage is allowed.
And, for some reason, their withdrawal of aid is *our* fault?
Oh sure, you care about children and poor people when it suits your agenda.
It's not the gay community's fault that the church chose to throw a hissy fit. All this did was further prove how childish you people can be.
While fundies and their rightist friends decry DC's gay marriage law, the children and the poor suffer. Because the sane people on the city council refused to kowtow to churches and faith-based organizations, the Catholic Church will refuse to operate charities within the city.
But, who cares about a bunch of kids and homeless people as long as rightist elites get their "in yer face."
Fixed.
Because the militants on the city council refused to exempt churches and faith-based organization from the ordinance...
That's a blatant lie in a thinly-veiled attempt to justify the Catholic Church's sour grapes.
The Catholic Church refuses to run charities now because of Gay Marriages?
Of course, they could just run the charity, and not give a flying fuck about the sexuality of the people it was helping... But that goes against the Christian principles of forcing your beliefs on others and persecuting those of different religions or backgrounds.
Has not the Catholic Church of its own volition decided to withhold its service to those Gregory mentions??
Crocodile tears.
The Catholic Church is tainted by its own hypocrisy in this case, and also in the cases of abuse of the young, which now appear even to be reaching into the Papal chambers in the Vatican Palace.
Let us not engage in hypocrisy lest someone think we are of the Catholic clergy.
That's bullshit. The Catholic church decided to not operate charities in protest of the gay marriage law, they weren't forced to close down their charities by the government. Which means that they could keep running the charities, but they're throwing a hissy fit over gay marriage and refusing to help people.
Another reason I'm glad I'm not Catholic any more. They're not about helping the poor although they like to talk a good deal about it. The priests will talk about how important it is to be like Jesus, so give your money to the church and help the poor. But it all goes to the Vatican so the pope and his highest cardinals and bishops can live in regal luxury while people starve all over the planet.
Oh yeah, a lot of that money goes to defend priests in molestation lawsuits.
I thought the yuppies were mostly capitalist-loving right-wing people. They could of course be gay, but I don't think many of the yuppies were leftists.
What does gender-neutral marriage laws have to do with children's suffering? What kind of suffering? How is gender-neutral marriage laws affecting the poor? A-ha, the Catholic Church refused to do charity. You can't blame others for your decisions.
Nobody wants an "in yer face", they want the same rights and the same opportunities as anyone else.
If anyone wants an "in yer face", it's the fundie lot who won't let them celebrate their love as other people, and base this refusal on 6000-year-old myths.
"While gay yuppies and their leftist friends celebrate DC's gay marriage law, the children and the poor suffer."
Yes, and while someone, somewhere in the world, eats a ham sandwich a pretty little butterfly in the Amazon rain forest is eaten by a predator.
What either of those has to do with the other I'm not sure. Then again, what gay marriage and children and poor people suffering has to do with one another I'm not sure of either.
"Because the militants on the city council refused to exempt churches and faith-based organization from the ordinance, the Catholic Church will no longer be able to operate charities within the city."
What the fuck are you talking about? Because gays can be married the Church now can't provide fucking food to the homeless?
Boy, you've got this cause and effect thing all screwed up. I suggest you get your brain checked as it doesn't appear to be functioning at an optimal level.
"But, who cares about a bunch of kids and homeless people as long as leftist elites get their "in yer face.""
This entire post of yours is low quality and short on sense even for Moonbattery.
No, dipshit. That church, in sheer spite, chose to discontinue charitible work. No one made them stop - they threw a hissy fit and stopped. They're the evil ones.
Summary of the catholic church: "Nyer nyer I'm not gonna play wit' you no more, I'm takin' my toys back. *blows raspberry* I hate you! It's your fault I won't play with you! Argh *throws toys around*"
Seriously, If you start acting like tantrum throwing toddler everytime you don't get your own way, start expecting not to get your own way a lot more. Tantrums don't work for kids, they ain't gonna work for a church who should know better.
Here's how it works:
This is the Law
This is the catholic church
Do you notice how the catholic church is not above the law? Yeah, that may come as a shock to you but deal with it
So basically as long as I do any kind of charity work it gives me the power to make demands of a large group of people? Then I demand that Christianity come to an end lest I stop donating. So, to all Christians: you have to give up your religion. You don't want to be responsible for the death of children, do you?
Once again, the poor and children are pawns, and clergy are douchebags. What's new.
Come to think of it, from now on I'll blame my relative lack of charitable work on fundies' despicable behavior. Yeah, that's gonna work.
Also, you knuckle-draggers need to decide whether we leftists are coffee-drinking elite yuppie snobs or are we welfare queens who don't work waiting on a hand out?
You need to make up your mind which demonization you're going to go with and stick with it.
So...the Catholic Church threatened to stomp it's feet and hold it's breath, the courts refused to comply to their blackmail, and it's OUR fault?! The Church showed it's colors, buddy, and it's the fact that they only care about the charities as long as they get their bit out of it. If they were truly doing it from the goodness of their hearts, the politics here would not matter, and they...THEY would not be the ones holding the children and the poor hostage.
"Because the militants on the city council refused to exempt churches and faith-based organization from the ordinance, the Catholic Church will no longer be able to operate charities within the city."
Most likely because all the priests in D.C. decided to marry other dudes and there was no one left to operate the charities.
That's A-Ok with me, charities are disgusting entities anyway.
Any decent society will fix it's social problems rather than rely on something as useless as charity.
Wow. There's a mushroom cloud over my house from the explosion of my irony metre.
The slack will be picked up by non malevolent entities. The church will realize decent people won't be giving it money any more and they'll do an about face and say "all right we'll help the poor but only because those leftist bastards won't". Money talks I'm afraid, they'll see which way the wind is blowing and change their tune when their bottom line starts to be effected.
@ Mudak --
Actually, Catholic Charities in Massachusetts used to place kids for adoption with same-sex couples -- until the bishops got involved, threw a hissy fit very similar to this one, and started screaming persecution when Catholic Charities couldn't continue taking public money if they didn't meet public standards for ethics. (Because that's what these complaints are about -- not a right to discriminate, which they retain under DC law, but a right to discriminate using public funds .)
"But, who cares about a bunch of kids and homeless people..."
Yep. Let the poor and homeless rot in the streets as we take care of more important issues like making sure gays are treated as second-class citizens.
Lying for jeebus is still lying. "the catholic church will no longer be able....." Liar. The church decided. They are still able, they just choose not to. Does "thou shalt not bear false witness" mean anything to you?
Second thought, let's evaluate this quote: "the children and the poor suffer." Taking a sober look at the catholic church and its history of institutional pedophilia, this is perhaps a blessing for the children.
Uh no the Catholic Church is more then able to operate within DC.
They CHOSE NOT TO.
When it came to choosing between not discriminating against gay people and abandoning families that depended on them, the Church decided that abandoning the poor is what they wanted to do.
Priorities.
"gay marriage law ... refused to exempt churches ... Catholic Church will no longer be able to operate charities"
Are you saying that soup kitchens and orphanages are being forced to marry same-sex couples? How in the nine hells does this impact any of their charitable work?
To show what a hateful and backwards person you are, I'm going to change three words of your argument--just three:
"While negro yuppies and their leftist friends celebrate DC's racial desegregation law, the children and the poor suffer. Because the militants on the city council refused to exempt churches and faith-based organization from the ordinance, the Catholic Church will no longer be able to operate charities within the city. "
Now doesn't that sound incredibly racist and absurdly wrong of the Catholic church? (Then again, given where your post came from, it probably doesn't to you.)
If anything, your post actually presents a good argument for a stronger government safety net for the poor instead of an argument against gays. Nice job, bro.
Is it any surprise that these people have the maturity levels of a two-year-old? Well no, I shouldn't say that - the toddlers have an excuse, as they haven't yet learned that the world doesn't revolve around them. These people, I'm assuming, are old enough to have done so by now.
It's not that they weren't able . It's that they deliberately chose to close their doors and let people starve, rather than have to offer equal employment benefits to hypothetical gay workers.
But hey, who cares about facts or homeless people--we've got to do something about the GAYS.
Is it just me, or does this guys name just scream Poe?
Gregory of Yardale? As in that kid from the South Park movie.
Oh my God...shortly thereafter, Gregory says:
Typical leftist. Anyone who disagrees with them in a Nazi and anyone who agrees in a founding father, or possibly Jesus.
Shiny, shiny mirror you got there, bucko...
You do realize that quite a few churches do nothing with their tax-exempt statuses? If there's anyone to blame for that -- blame it on those churches.
And exactly, how is that the "gay yuppies" fault?
While gay yuppies and their leftist friends celebrate DC's gay marriage law, the children and the poor suffer.
Do they suffer because of the gay marriage law? No, they don't.
Because the militants on the city council refused to exempt churches and faith-based organization from the ordinance
I failed to notice the part of the constitution that guranteed religious institutions the right to discriminate. Maybe thats because it isn't fucking there in the first place.
the Catholic Church will no longer be able to operate charities within the city.
Bullshit, the catholic church refuses to operate charities in the district. There is nothing legally preventing them from doing so. Just their own holier than thou sanctimonious bullshit.
But, who cares about a bunch of kids and homeless people as long as leftist elites get their "in yer face."
From my vantage point the people who don't care if kids or the homeless suffer is the church. No one "made" the church close up their charities, they did so of their own volition because playing politics was more important to them than the well being of the people those charities would serve.
Yeah, right, the sheer number of gay people doing charity work for the Catholic Church broke the bank when they added their spouses to the health plan. I hear the Pope even had to pawn his gold throne.
The Church was happy to accept help from gay parishoners, but drew the line, because they felt extending benefits was tantamount to supporting homosexuality. You know, because Jesus asked everybody what sins they'd committed before He healed them.
How exactly do kids suffer without the Church in their lives here? No one to tell them they were born into sin?
Mate, I am an atheist. I stand against all religions. Except maybe Jainism because those guys really don't harm anyone. Strict pacifists (no technical pacifism like hindus and buddhists.) and vegetarians and they back up their faith to the T. Them I can respect, cause atleast they go the whole way and don't attempt to force you to do the same.
I don't discriminate on who I treat or help. You could be a freaking scientologist and enlist my aid.
If your charity is dependant on ANY modifier, then its not charity.
OH WELL... guess that means no more funds towards your beautiful brand new Mercedes cars or shiney golf clubs or pretty jewelry, eh? Catholics like you make me ashamed to share the same faith as you... (dont ask its very complicated) at least my church doesnt behave like yours does.... we always give 100% no matter whats going on outside our church walls or congregation meetings. I have yet to hear a bad thing about the Sacred Heart church in my town... and if I do im LEAVING. Besides... I only go there to pray and do confession anyways because those two things I SURELY DO believe in when it comes to God... not the crazy bible babble BS these people scream at other people... but really just for being close to the God I KNOW that ISNT the insane Biblical God they follow... (as I said... complicated) LMAO
Confused?
