Hitler Was Pro-choice
In 1933, when the Nazi's came to power, the law was changed to legalize abortion and make this a matter of decision for a medical review board. The development of Germany's abortion policy was left to the county's most vociferous abortion advocacy group, the Berlin Chamber of Physicians. This group, which advocated abortion on demand, determined that "The health of the mother - considered from all angles - is the decisive factor." Then, just as now, health of the mother criterion was loosely understood to mean any economic or psychological affect on the woman's total well being.
There were approximately 500,000 abortions annually in Germany under the Third Reich, a country of 60 to 70 million people. And, in Nazi Germany, racial stock was considered an aspect of the health of the mother. If she was from an "unhealthy" race, such as Polish, Czech or Jewish, then she was often forced to have an abortion against her will. However, race wasn't the only consideration. Hitler actively promoted the destruction of the crippled, poor and unemployed classes, as did Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood. Abortion led to forced sterilization, which led to "euthanasia," which led to Auschwitz.

Hitler often took part in a horrible Nazi ritual known as "Breathing"
That's right, every time you breathe, you're killing thousands of Jews, or something.
Stop breathing, please.
Godwin, slippery slope... wow.
This just in: Hitler was a vegetarian! BAN VEGETABLES FROM STORE SHELVES! ONOZ!
Hitler was an artist, so art is evil.
Hitler was German, so Germans are evil.
Hitler was a man, so men are evil.
Hitler had a mustache, so mustaches are evil.
Hitler had a dog, so dogs are evil.
Hitler banned abortion in the Third Reich.
Just so there'd be a ready supply of cannon-fodder to feed his Wehrmacht war machine, or to create more females to create more males to feed said Wehrmacht war machine.
You FAIL history, Life Dynamics Inc.
So we shouldn't force women to have abortions based on their ethnicity? I agree, however your argument falls flat since no one is being forced (at least by the state) to have an abortion.
Also just because you disagree with something does not mean it's just like teh nazis.
Except Nazi ethnic cleansing abortions are completely unrelated to modern legal abortions in the United States.
Also, forcing someone to get an abortion is not pro-choice, as the entire point of the pro-choice lobby is that any woman has the right to choose to abort. A right is not the same as an obligation. The two are quite different.

You are approximately 100% full of shit.
Don't tell me, Hitler also voted Democrat, was for gun control, wanted socialised medicine and was in favour of interacial marriages, right?

Yeah, because pregnant women should just think of themselves as walking incubators. Heck, all women should think of themselves in that light. [/sarcasm]

You're confusing pro-choice with eugenics. The rest is just a bullshit attempt at an emotional appeal which any rational person will dismiss right away.
These people really don't know what "pro-choice" means, do they? Yanno, the whole "choosing" thing. For example, those moronic bumper stickers that say "Aren't you glad your Mom wasn't pro-choice?" Errm, yes she was, and she chose to have me.
Maybe they think that the word "choice" is now a euphemism for "bludgeoning babies to death with a hammer" or something? That would explain the kittens that the pro-life nutjobs had regarding Krispy Kreme's Inauguration Day donut giveaway.
ZOMG Abortion Donuts!
How much history can these fundtards misunderstand and misrepresent.
I'd say THIS much.
Because "choice" always means "forced" in fundieland. As in, "It's your choice to not believe in Jesus, but you're going to Hell if you don't."
Fucking retards.
Off-topic, does anyone agree with me that a comparison with the Nazis or Hitler should not be an automatic fail? Obviously in this case it is, because the comparison is invalid, but I've seen instances where somebody has perfectly reasonably pointed out that a given tactic or whatever was central to the development for the Nazi ideology, only for the valid comparison to be lost under a thousand cries of "OMGZZZGODWINONEONEELEVENSEVENTEEN"
Godwin's law should only be invoked when the comparison is not a valid one.
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.
... NOT!
The Third Reich was pretty strong against abortion.
There were forced abortions for eugenic and racist reasons, but not even close to 500.000 per year.
You just made stuff up, you will go to hell for this.
What a SUCK ASS web site. A repeating background like that gets an automatic "LOSER" rating from me.
8 errors and 3 warnings in its html: Unable to determine parse mode, no doc type found..SHEESH...14 CSS errors...
Not to mention the information on the site has NOTHING to do with history, or reality for that matter.
I expect this site to be dumped by the time its renewal comes up as the owner is to FUCKING STUPID to even understand such things.
How many ways can a Godwin be wrong?
"In 1933, when the Nazi's came to power, the law was changed to legalize abortion and make this a matter of decision for a medical review board"
In 1933 the newly lected Nazi party made abortion a CAPITAL CRIME PUNISHED BY THE DEATH OF BOTH THE DOCTOR AND THE MOTHER.
Hitler Ate Sug...
Actually, no. That is too easy.
Also, I want to spare those of you who have not been ruined by TVTropes yet.

"Also, I want to spare those of you who have not been ruined by TVTropes yet."
You're a bit late for that. *evil grin*
You know what else was legalized? Harassing groups der furhrer didn't like. Groups like the Jews, Roma, intellectuals and homosexuals. My, those last two especially sound familiar...
"In 1933, when the Nazi's came to power..."
In that context, the word "Nazis" is a plural , NOT a possessive! You have used the apostrophe incorrectly and therefore you are in violation of article 1, paragraph 16 of the Codex Grammaticus of the Fourth Reich. [motions to henchmen] Take him out behind the chemical shed and shoot him.
[/Grammar Nazi]
This piece is poorly sourced and argued, but there is no question but that the historical origin of the holocaust was in medical attempts to curtail human life for purposes of eugenics.
I also notice that on this board there seems to be a common assumption that having an abortion is a morally simple proposition, while it is anything but that.

Wait, the closest relationship that Hitler was to abortion was that HE was about to be miscarriaged and that his mother considered having an(illegal)one. Apart from that, in Germany abortion, specially for "arians" was totally forbidden, which is nothing particularly. It was forbidden in most parts of Europe. Don't try to rewrite history.
"In 1933, when the Nazi's came to power, the law was changed to legalize abortion and make this a matter of decision for a medical review board."
Godwin is bad enough when its true but that is just an out and out lie. The only abortions in Nazi Germany occurred when they murdered pregnant women in their targeted persecution groups. The Nazis resembled the quiverfull movement in their obsessive love for having more kids for the nation, they awarded freaking medals to mothers who had 4 or more children! The Nazis even set up centres to support aryan women who had illegitimate children discretely.
@ Anon.
Having been introduced to the concept of 'Godwin' after having made what I considered to be one such valid comparison, I have some sympathy with your view. Yet at best such a comparison is stereotype and cliche, and our arguments are hard to distinguish from those of the Godwinning crackpots.
Best to adopt the rule it is a fail. 99% of the time because the proponeneent is a crackpot, the remaining 1 percent because of ignorance of Godwins Law.
HISTORY FAIL!
SLIPPERY SLOPE!
BIG FUCKING GODWIN!
AND CITATION SERIOUSLY NEEDED!
Do we have anything that goes one step further than a normal Trifecta but made for the Godwin series specifically here on FSTDT? LMFAO. This guy totally nailed all of these PERFECTLY. Im impressed AND disgusted.

ME: Ummm actually... im not sad that mom was pro choice... it was her right and she did choose to have me... but im not exactly happy that she did choose to have me really. I hate this world so much sometimes.. and most of the people in it and all the bullshit i have to deal with and have dealt with all through growing up. Bullshit like Life Dynamics here. Prime example of why I WISH I was never born. But just because I feel this way... does not mean I would become "Hitler" and magically take a knife to my mothers womb and carve me out of it by "force" which is exactly what he is depicting here. It is EVERY womans right to choose. AND NO ONE ELSES. Not even the lump of forming flesh inside her. Not even the male who knocked her up. ITS HER BODY. Gotta love freedom and not living in a fascist soceity eh?
@ Sacharissa
this person who posted a comment on your article about the abortion donuts you found CRACKED ME THE FUCK UP! XD

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! :P ROFLROFLROFL
History Revision Project is alive and well, I see.
A dictatorship tend to have very little to do with choice in any way, shape or form.
Racial "hygiene" was an accepted theme before WWII, in both Europe and the US. Hitler just took it to its extreme, acted out what other countries were just talking about. The horrors that was revealed after the end of WWII made most countries end their programs in this field faster than the speed of light.
Btw, when did the US remove its last law against interracial marriages?
1) Hitler supposedly being pro-choice does not invalidate pro-choice positions. He was also anti-smoke, for that matter. You are using reductio ad diabolum, a well known logical fallacy. The Hitler argument was so abused in the immediate postwar period that the fallacy was mockingly renamed reductio ad hitlerum.
2) Hitler was not pro choice. He mandated abortion and sterilization for the "unhealthy" and promoted it for non-Aryans, while mandating no abortion for Aryans. As you point out yourself, making abortion illegal did not cut the number of actual abortions, as it never does. It just made them unsafe and much more expensive.
3)Brainless, unconscious cells that could never function autonomously or feel anything are hardly people.

Right, un other words, the three K didn't exist. The fact that Germany didn't recover because of women not replacing men un the workforce is a figment of our imagination. And that forced abortions were only applied to non aryan women..........well, you pretty much lived un another reality when you typed it
Confused?
