God didn't make our time system. It's a different time at every longitude. Until the invention of dependable clocks, no one bothered with exact times. The Catholic Church recognized prayer times as lauds (before dawn), prime (daybreak), terce (mid-morning), sext (noon), nones (mid-afternoon), vespers (sunset) and compline (bed time); and in the Middle Ages, people usually referred to the time of day by these terms, too. With clocks, each region had its own standard. The railroads eventually standardized the times within "time zones" because they had to keep to schedules.

My great-grandfather did back in the 60's, when DST was finally extended to Alabama. He refused to change his clocks back and forth, but he still had to go to appointments and church services an hour earlier, so it really didn't make any difference.
And no, men aren't playing with the way the seasons work. They're changing an artificial construct--namely, the practice of dividing a day into hours, and when those hours should begin and end. Man can't make the sun actually rise or set any sooner or later than it does.

Yes, I do hate the time change, especially the spring change. But it takes like, two days tops, to get adjusted again. It's ok.
Abrupt? Not so much: you know its coming. Its not a surprise. Start adjusting a few days earlier.
