Plenty of hard working ladies don't want to be Betty Crocker either. What's your point?

So why should straight people get hands out then? Why not abolish marriage?

Why do you have to want to be "Betty Crocker" to want to commit yourself legally to someone else? You're aware that there's more to marriage than putting on a dress and playing housewife, right?

There are no far left politicians in the US. At least not many enough to get a controversial question like gender-neutral marriage taken on. All you have is an ultra-right-wing and a center-right-wing.
Who wants to be Betty Crocker? I don't even know who she is/was and I still recoil in disgust.

This is actually the least homophobic thing I have ever read from Moonbattery. I'm impressed.

Gay marriage was the idea of gay people who want to be treated just like everyone else, you dolt. Which part of that is difficult for you to understand?

Gay marriage was the idea of far left politicians who needed another victim group to keep their funds and offices in place.
Well if there wasn't a victim in the first place there'd be nothing to "keep their funds and offices in place", so by your logic you and other fundies are keeping 'far left politicians' in business.
I never heard hard working gays say they wanted to be Betty Crocker
And I never heard of any hard working straight people saying they wanted to be Michael Jackson's grandmother. I also don't know what the point of either observation is.
it's just the "in your face" losers looking for their share of social service hand outs.
If by "handouts" you mean the rights that are afforded to all straight married couples then it's not just the openly gay people that want those rights but those that aren't as "in your face" want them as well it's just that they're not as vocal or "in your face" about it. And why SHOULD only straight people get these 'handouts'?

You're right, I don't remember ever wanting to be Betty Crocker, not even a Betty, or a Crocker, or a woman.
Marriage would be pleasant, though.

@Wehpudicabok : that's only because the poster is even more sexist than he's homophobic. No need to be impressed.

> In my humble opinion.
Don't abuse the phrase. Judging from how often that appears in FSTDT, I'm starting to believe this phrase translates to "Please don't hit me in the face even when I'm obviously completely clueless."

Wha--HOW does this make any kind of sense?
No, really, what does Betty Crocker have to do with gay people OR marriage? I'm really not seeing it.
Of course, I'm a future female breadwinner whose intended says he'd like to be a stay-at-home-Dad if we can afford it, so Cowboy would probably be furious with me for totally unrelated reasons.

How about, and this will sound completely off the wall, how about they came up with the idea because, oh, I don't know, maybe gay couples actually don't get all the legal rights a heterosexual married couple would.
