I would like to think that I would be able to 'argue' with God... (Always bothered me about the Abraham story, didn't argue over his son, stood up over a 'godless' city. Weird.) But for all I know, if I've picked the wrong God and an new one showed up and told me to murder, I would do it to get in its good graces. Before you all haul me off to the looney bin (at least not for this) I guess my point is that the gods I generally see depicted is too small. If the God of the O.T. is looking my direction, I would probably not live. This is NOT an entity to be trifled with.
