I have nothing but contempt for our current government. I can't help but despise these people because what they have done is going to take all health care away from our disabled child. It's only a matter of time now - how long it will take for the government to make that final decision.

If you (and thus your 'God') were so concerned about said disabled child, why doesn't 'God' make him/her normal now?

Aye, there's the rub. And thus the nub of my gist: why do you fundies care about healthcare, least of all it becoming socialised (y'know, like the National Health Service here in the UK? Which we've had for at least 60 years). Why do you even need health insurance, or worry about it being affected by this bill's passing? After all, you have 'Faith' in your 'God' to heal all ills, therefore you don't require physicians, surgeons, nurses, hospitals, drugs, nor all the innovations & advancements that medical science has given us.

So what are you really worried about, sherrimae (and everyone else on Ruptured Retards)? A prayer a day should keep the doctor away, amirite?

If you require healthcare itself, never mind medical insurance, then you don't put much faith in your 'Faith'.

I talk to a few people on the internet who have chronic illnesses (particularly the one I have,) and I swear, the most common exchange I get with undiagnosed and/or unmedicated americans is
"OTC painkillers/internet advice/quackery won't cut it. You need a doctor."
"Yeah well I can't afford a doctor, so just tell me what to do by myself."
"I can't think of anything legal you could do by yourself. You need a doctor."
"I can't afford it."
"Then you need universal healthcare."

Fun fact: I live in Canada, with universal healthcare, and I have never in my life hesitated to get the medical care I need because of financial concerns. How many Americans can say the same?

You remember that first comment about having no respect for you? this is why. You didn't read the bill. You didn't research the bill. You don't understand healthcare. But you are nevertheless, willing to make a fool of yourself by condemning it on the internet.

It's only a matter of time now - how long it will take for the government to make that final decision.

The government has no motivation to get rid of your daughter, who will eventually grow up and get the right to vote. The insurance companies, on the other hand, have no such accountability mechanism. While you people bawl about socialism, Insurance companies interested only in their bottom line have sentenced another few thousand people to die in the only death panels that actually exist outside your imagination.

These facts should surely start raising a few flags of religious doubt amongst those in Ruptured Retards. If not now, then later, as nothing happens, re. the 'prophecies' in Revelation. Which should have happened anythime between now and the late 1940s, as socialised healthcare was introduced in the UK, in the form of the National Health Service.

If, as the Raptards claim, 'socialised medicine is the sign of the coming of the Antichrist'.

If so, he's on the wrong continent - and fucking late.

@observiNG: Little political science lesson for you. The Republicans have in the past 30-40 years been very smart about manipulating working class and lower-middle-class whites into thinking that voting for Republicans is in their best interests. They get them by claiming the unnecessary war is "keeping us safe", for example. But most of all, they make sure that the poor whites never realize the social programs they're voting against would help them just as much.

In Sherrimae's mind, the healthcare couldn't possibly be going to her daughter, because she doesn't think of her family as "that kind of family" that uses or needs government assistance, even if they DO need it, COULD get it, and WILL under the new system get it. People like her vote against themselves because they think they're voting against a black "welfare queen" with seven kids. Her quote is a sad example of an even sadder political strategy.
