Quote# 71912

What I want to know is why ANYone would think Obama has sympathetic leanings towards Islam?

I mean, OK...he pledges to sit down with terrorist murderers anywhere and hold talks...

...and yeah, he said "Should the political winds get ugly, I will stand with the Moslems"...

...and sure, he bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia...

...and alright, he said the Moslem call to prayer is the "most beautiful sound on earth"...

...and true, he's treated the head of state from the only democracy in the middle east (and our one ally in the region with whom we have military and religious ties) with utter disrespect...

...but other than THAT...

So you hate him because he doesn't believe people are evil for having different beliefs?

What I want to know is why nobody listens to Fundies.

I mean, OK, so they're some of the most bigoted, arrogant, and ignorant people on this planet...

and sure, they will pick and choose which verse to listen to from the bible...

and yeah, If jesus ever did come back, they would probably crucify him again for pretending to be jesus...

and understandably, they will ignore all reasonable arguments made with logic, and instead come back with "the bable says it's wrong" showing a total lack of self thought

BUT other then that....
wait... they're still assholes

1. Yeah.. 'cause it's such a HORRIBLE idea to try and make peace through conversation. *gasp* What is he thinking? Oh.. wait, it's that he is thinking at ALL. Something the former MISadministration didn't do, and it shocks you. I understand.

2. No he didn't. That's a blatant lie and you are a lying piece of shit for saying as much.

3. And the Shrub kissed him and held his hand.

4. I doubt he said "the most beautiful..." unless he was saying that those who adhere to islam find it to be "the most beautiful...". However, despite the fact that I'm an atheist, not only can I say that the "call to prayer" song IS a beautiful sound.. but there are also some gospel songs that I would call "beautiful sounds". I like music.

5. No he hasn't. Again, you're a liar.

Not surprising that you are a daft and lying prat.

The Muslim call to prayer would no doubt be improved by not being screamed through poorly maintained, feedback prone PA systems throughout the Middle East.

Seriously.

Yes, he wants to seek peaceful resolutions to conflicts. So? The Qu'ran doesn't like peaceful resolutions, it likes victory.

So he's picking a side. Whatever.

So he's showing respect to a foreign leader. Whatever.

Um...citation needed.

No, he's just not playing religious favorites. He's treating everyone equally, and you can't handle that.

All the American presidents have been doing all of the above for the last 80 years to ensure that petrol is cheap. Your point?

This isn't the sixth grade playground. In the adult world, you don't get stuff done by shoving people around and insulting them.

I know for a fact that he did NOT say that the Muslim call to prayer was the most beautiful sound on earth. I was watching that debate or speech and I clearly remember him saying that it was ONE of the prettiest sounds on earth. He was talking about remembering it from his childhood. I certainly don't believe in the Christian god but I think that the sound of church bells is a beautiful sound. Maybe part of that comes from my childhood, too. Stop lying. I think your Bible has a commandment about that.

"...our one ally in the region with whom we have military and religious ties..."

So America is a Jewish state? Whooda thunk it!

actuallu, from a musicological point of view, the muslim call to prayer is quite beautiful. But it is typical of a certain kind of American to think in terms of what is the most...whatever. The rest of us try to appreciate everything and ignore the infantile call to 'bestism'.

HappyOrb

Even if he didn't say. I do think the call to prayer is one of the most beautiful sounds.

That is all it takes for fundies, just to say a single nice thing about a Muslim or Moslem(?) and you are instantly in the bed with them. You have to hate everything about them, EVERYTHING!

Giveitaday

he pledges to sit down with terrorist murderers anywhere and hold talks

When did he make this "pledge"? What were the exact words he used? What "terrorists" has he attempted to hold talks with?

and yeah, he said "Should the political winds get ugly, I will stand with the Moslems"...

So when, where, and it what context did he make that exact statement, since you seem to be representing it as a direct qoute of Obama's. Or did you just make it up to prop up a flimsy and erroroneous argument?

and sure, he bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia

And by doing so he followed diplomatic protocol. Moreover it's not as if he were the first PotUS to so.

and alright, he said the Moslem call to prayer is the "most beautiful sound on earth"...

No, he didn't. He did refer to it as "beautiful" but not the "most beautiful sound on earth" and I have to agree with him. So what? What is offensive about enjoying a melody? Is it now somehow anti-american to find beauty something that wingnuts from "Moonbattery" don't like??

and true, he's treated the head of state from the only democracy in the middle east

Israel is hardly a democracy. It's treatment towards non-jewish citizen, both muslim and christian is a testament to that fact.

(and our one ally in the region with whom we have military and religious ties)

The US government doesn't and shouldn't have religious ties with any government. In fact the US has no official religion to have ties with, no matter how much you ssay it does. As for military ties the US as military ties with the majority of middle eastern countries.

with utter disrespect

And yet when a foreign head of state disrespects some of the highest ranking government officials of the US you don't utter a single word of protest. That's "Real American" patriotism for you.

(and our one ally in the region with whom we have military and religious ties)

Turkey, motherfucker.

And we don't need religious ties to any state, especially one that's as tyrannical and has such a horrible human rights track record as Israel does.

I hate Islam, I think it is one of the biggest problems on earth...but I think the call to prayer sounds really cool. Does this make me a muslim, no, I'm an atheist.
