Quote# 72080

A man who claimed to have been sent by Jesus to punish sinners rammed his car into a parked plane at an airport in southeastern Nigeria , an aviation spokesman said Thursday.

The suspect was heard yelling that all Nigerians were sinners and must repent or perish, a reporter who was at the airport said. The man, who is from Nigeria's southeastern state of Akwa Ibom, said he had been sent by Jesus Christ.

Attention whore, best ignored.

Very religious countries => Limited treatment of mental illness.

4/8/2010 4:52:51 AM

Yes there is. The countries we usually hear stuff like this from have limited to non-availibility of mental health treatment. That also includes countries with religious violence and other stuff. In my opinion, that is the reason they are so much in the news. We have idiots like this too. We have violent religious zealots. But we lock them up early on via various mental health assessments. Instead of sending weapons and giving billions of aids to dictators, we should be funding mental health treatments in a lot of countries.

So, Jesus sends a guy(how?), to do the opposite of what he preached?. Attention whore or mentally ill. You choose.

Niger(ia) please!

4/8/2010 6:03:26 AM

Rob aka Mediancat

Yeah. What the hell was the plane's part in all this? Planes, more or less by definition, can't sin.

Doubting Thomas

"The suspect was heard yelling that all Nigerians were sinners"

They are, judging from all the scam emails I get in my inbox on a daily basis.

4/8/2010 6:22:58 AM

God Hates Airplanes! Airplanes are horrible sinners who like to offend Jesus!

4/8/2010 6:35:43 AM

@ toth:

For a supposedly all-powerful god, there sure are a lot of people who say they've been sent to do his dirty work. In a far more inefficient way than a blatant miracle (such as a colony of lepers being cured overnight) would.

"The suspect was heard yelling that all Nigerians were sinners and must repent or perish"

He must've got an e-mail from a Nigerian telling him he had $30 million to give to him, and he just wanted his bank details.

If he's gullible enough to believe in an invisible sky fairy, then...!

4/8/2010 7:46:51 AM

That Jesus! He really knows how to mess with people! Just last week I heard he was trying to convince someone that they could drink poison and not die. Such a kidder!

4/8/2010 7:48:03 AM

I don't find this implausible.

4/8/2010 8:03:03 AM

Well good to see other countries have crazy fundies too.

Evil European Atheist.

Is there a difference other than semantic between faith and psychosis ?
Personnaly, I think that fundies deserve intensive psychiatric cares.

Christians started claiming that he's not a TRUE christian about 2 milliseconds after he crashed the vehicle. Amirite?

4/8/2010 9:20:25 AM

I'm sure the plane had just aborted take-off and he was angry...

4/8/2010 9:57:16 AM

I hope he didn't dent the plane of that nice Nigerian prince who is giving me $10,000,000 after I give him my SSN, bank name, account number, date of birth and mother's maiden name.

4/8/2010 10:19:15 AM

Well I was going to make a comment about falling for a scam email, but it looks like others beat me to the punch....

4/8/2010 2:07:45 PM

That reminds me...

...fucking idiot...

4/8/2010 4:03:29 PM

The Son of God: Good at persuading people, a bit less good at using the motor vehicle as a tool for persuasion.

If I were an omnipotent entity, I'd definitely crash into airports and collide with empty planes to make a memorable statement to illustrate the widespread sinfulness of this world. Riiiiight.
