Love, to atheists, does not involve guilt trips, fear, or slavery...

from reading this forum, and around it, it appears tht what fundies mainly offer is judgmental, conditional love only to those they approve of within very tight criteria. Most non-fundies I know (including atheists, people of normal religious impulses) don't check out someone's strict spiritual credentials before caring about whether they live or die..
I suppose it depends on how you define love. As far as I'm concerned, in the abstract love is not wanting the other person(s) to suffer; for them to have a better life than I have had; for me to do what I can to make that happen.
... actually, that doesn't sound very much like the fundie definition of love, does it?

You know, of the sort which tends to keep family and society together.
Not Christian Love, you know the love from a gawd who will fuck you up for eternity if you don't please it, but some atheists are known to be capable of actual love as it is known to humans and not fictitious entities.
I had a Mormon friend in the Navy who flew home after boot camp to marry his high school sweetheart, then reported to his next command.
Atheists would just congratulate her on the sex, because we love without those judgmental hang-ups. Christains are so worried they’ll accidentally approve of something sinful or conttribute to the delinquency of an adult who should have known better, or offer situational consent, they’re actually quite stingy with their love.
