Quote# 72267

Funny. I dont reject other religions because I'm a skeptic, I reject them because I'm only aware of evidence for my religious beliefs, and my religious beliefs imply the falsehood of other religions.

The bible saying not to have "other gods" is not proof that your religion is better than others.

And you fail to see that other religions tell them that their religion is true and all others are false. And they're right, too. Just ask them.

In other words, you have no real evidence outside of "Because i said so".

"I reject them because I'm only aware of evidence for my religious beliefs, and my religious beliefs imply the falsehood of other religions."

That's strange. That's exactly what everyone else says about their religion, too. What a coincidence.

"and my religious beliefs imply the falsehood of other religions."

Imply, not prove. Just imply.

What evidence would that be, then? (NB: the Babble isn't evidence of anything)

I am a skeptic and for me to accept your claims you'll have to produce this "evidence" for the veracity of your religious beliefs.
If it exists.

True, it IS funny that you don't accept things and reject things based on actual evidence.

And somewhat pathetic.

@ Horsefeathers - Actually, there are many religions that don't require their believers to negate other religions. Pretty prominent in Eastern thought and even Native American tribes. Often the religious just believe that their gods watch over them and other gods watch over other people. Also consider Ancestral Worship - my great-grandfather is not watching over you for obvious reasons.

Judea/Christian/Muslim != All religions. My pet peeve.

Your beliefs are made up out of thin air just like all the others. The only difference between a religion you invented yourself and the one you practice is that somebody else invented it themselves and fooled you into believing they knew what they were talking about.

And the other religions say the same about other religions. The point is........

Your not a skeptic? Really? What were the odds?

Yeah, sorry, but I've seen tons of evidence for my beliefs and it's not even a dogmatic system. Unlike you, however, I don't think I'm better than everyone who doesn't believe in what I do. To me, what you do with your life (as in, your actions) is much more important than what you worship.

my religious beliefs imply the falsehood of other religions.

See, that's not actually true. In fact, the prohibition against worshiping other gods only makes sense if other gods are assumed to exist and if you take a look in a history book you'd realize that many ancient cultures had regional gods that looked after them for the price of worshiping them over every other god out there and the Hebrews were no exception to this.

The three major religions in our part of the world all share the same God, the only difference between Christianity and the other two being belief in Jesus as the Savior.

Thus, for you to "reject" the God worshipped in Judaism and Islam is to reject your own God, as well. Try to keep up.

Someone should write "This is bullshit" in his bible, and see if he believes that ;)
