No, it's pretty well been proven. We can actually observe it happening in organisms that reproduce quickly (although not quickly enough to see them evolve into another species). Oh, and it has nothing to do with God. Why can't you think about the idea that evolution was God's plan to begin with? That seems to be a pretty popular and widely accepted one among Christians.

It's both. "Evolution" is an observed fact; and the "theory of evolution", which is what most people call what Darwin actually referred to as "descent with modification", is the theory that explains the observation.
The theory of evolution doesn't disprove God. It just disproves the Christian fundamentalist interpretation of the Bible. But most Christians don't accept that anyway.
