So, you're in favour of not interfering in other people's affairs if it doesn't concern you?
Even if there is a "god", it sure as hell ain't Santa Claus sitting on a cloud playing a harp...
4/25/2010 6:59:20 PM
No deity will save us; we must save ourselves. If you weren't stuck in lala land it wouldn't be too hard for you to realise this.
4/25/2010 7:22:15 PM
"Makes as much sense as me trying to get my neighbor to refrain from getting up early just because I like to sleep late."
You're kind of getting it, only in reverse. Pray til your knees bleed for all we care, just don't force others to do so.
4/25/2010 7:24:52 PM
And if I asked you to play a nice tune on a banjo in praise of Banjo the Clown, God of Puppets, you would yell that you don't believe in Banjo. And you wouldn't play a song in praise of Banjo. And if I got government backing to make you play a song for Banjo, you'd be pissed, because I'd be forcing my mistaken beliefs on you.
Do you see how this works??
4/25/2010 7:47:28 PM
"If I succeed, I have not done myself a bit of good, but neither is the early riser harming me by getting up early; so what's the point?"
This is a very interesting analogy, considering how often and how loudly I have been told I am GOING TO HELLLLL for daring to sleep in on Sunday mornings.
4/25/2010 7:48:01 PM
"Did you know that Banjo has a wonderful plan for your life? I'd like to give you some literature, please read it, and Banjo bless."

For the last time, atheism isn't the belief that there is no god, it is a lack of belief in gods.
4/25/2010 8:29:33 PM
refuter of fundy vermin
Freedomnut is no fan of freedom, except for brainless, unthinking RaptureRetards & other mindless Christian fundies. If you don't think as he does you're not entitled to be free; he & his ilk are not only entitled to but have the DUTY to harass, persecute, bully & imprison anyone unlike them. Freedomnut needs more than a name change; he needs a brain transplant (oh wait, they don't do those).
4/25/2010 8:31:24 PM
We don't give a damn if you pray. We wish you would pray around the clock and stay off the streets. It's not the day of prayer that's offensive, it's the government endorsement.
Oh, and that gnawing feeling? That was the damned burrito I had for lunch.
4/25/2010 8:32:19 PM
One person complaining doesn't change stuff like that. Millions of people complaining does, however.
"No wonder God calls them fools!"
When did God say that? Hell, when did God come down and say "Yeah, atheists are fools"? And why reveal his existence just to say that?!
4/25/2010 8:36:53 PM
Or it could be the fact that our constitution says were not allowed to establish a religion.
4/25/2010 9:06:48 PM
"The fool hath said in his heart that there is no God."
What Fundies seem to miss, however, is that no one wants to listen to their sanctimonious bullshit. It's quite annoying to be called a fool by someone who can't tell you what the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics actually IS or spell the word "Genesis."
4/25/2010 9:31:37 PM
You know, nut, your argument would make sense if you knew what you were talking about.
4/25/2010 9:33:24 PM
Have a nice day!
4/25/2010 9:40:25 PM
Yeah, like defining marriage to exclude couples a Christian doesn't like! To heck with that nonsense, right?
4/25/2010 9:47:19 PM
I'm pretty sure there isn't a god. I know I'm not in control of everything. I know that I am, in fact, in control of very little. This only bothers me to the extent that it makes me want to control more.
WOW, THAT WAS HORRENDOUSLY PAINFUL AND I THINK I ALMOST DIED. SURELY THERE MUST BE A GOD. THANK YOU, FREEDOMNUT, FOR FREEING ME FROM MY SELF-IMPOSED PRISON. I AM FOREVER IN YOUR DEBT.
4/25/2010 10:38:22 PM
Last time i checked, the judge did nothing illegal or wrong. If you need to pray, pray away. Just don't expect uncle sam to give a shit about it.
4/25/2010 10:48:25 PM
Separation of Church and State, moron. If you have a national Day of Prayer, you must also have a national Day of Rain-dance.
Is it not interesting that so many will try to stop others from doing what hurts them not, yet enriches them not either, when they achieve their goal?
Oh, yes. People will try to stop others from not believing in God.
Let me not believe in any gods, and let your neighbor get out of bed when she wants. Leave us alone, m'kay?
4/25/2010 10:53:46 PM
Okay. Think about what you just said. Now apply it to your stance on gay marriage.
4/25/2010 10:54:36 PM
Well I'm not religious and I don't believe in any supernatural deities but I'm quite happy for others to believe what they want as long as they don't do any harm. In fact, I'm more than happy for people to believe in gigantic ethereal mansion entrance halls, for instance, and I particularly approve of the various gnashing and raging orders that are so prevalent. And who could dislike the slavish cult members whose lives revolve around rabid ancient textual translations, (and modern political shenanigans), and who cheer each other on to ever greater feats of the most immense stupidity and praise each others doltishness wholeheartedly?
4/26/2010 12:02:03 AM
No, this is like letting your neighbor get up early while you sleep late, but asking him to be respectful of everyone around him by shutting the fuck up.
4/26/2010 12:48:44 AM
Keep your worthless superstition out of my government.
4/26/2010 12:58:34 AM
I honestly don't know what the national day of prayer is, but also I don't know why these people can't just pray anyway without the government getting involved.
4/26/2010 1:12:11 AM
To bad those people at RR have never actually read their bibles...
Matthew 6:5 - 7
5. And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites [are]: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Good Christians are not to pray publicly, nor are they to pray for the same thing over and over and over.
4/26/2010 3:56:47 AM
"Why did a judge rule that the National Day of Prayer was unconstitutional?"
Because of the constitution.
