Quote# 72530

How many scientists have created something out of nothing? Zero? Not even a stick of juicy fruit gum? Amazing when you compare that to the creation of the entire universe. Well, I guess I’ll leave all you sophistimicated smart folks alone now, and go back to thumping my Bible. P.S.–If atheists are just as capable of being as moral and decent as believers, how come they all seem to be insufferable a$$holes like you, Phil?

How many scientists have created something out of nothing? Zero?

How many have ever claimed to?

Not even a stick of juicy fruit gum?

At a molecular or atomic scale a stick of Juicy Fruit wouild be rather damn complex.

Amazing when you compare that to the creation of the entire universe.

You overlook one very, very important point. The Big Bang model does not postulate that "something was created out of nothing". Big Bang cosmology postulate that everything that makes up the universe was part of a superdense singularity

Well, I guess I’ll leave all you sophistimicated smart folks alone now, and go back to thumping my Bible.

If you are intent on remaining willfully ignorant on certain subjects while at the same time acting as if you speak with authority about them then it's probably for the best.

If atheists are just as capable of being as moral and decent as believers,

In many cases they tend to be more moral because they don't have an imaginary magic man that they can use to excuse, rationalize, or justify their actions. Atheists must own their actions, good or bad, rather than use a cherry picked out-of-context bible verse to allieviate themelves of guilt and responsibility.

how come they all seem to be insufferable a$$holes like you, Phil?

So because you claim that certain people are "insufferable a$$holes" then it must be true? To think that all these years I thought those were subjective terms.

Seriously now, the fact that simply disagreeing with you is all it takes for you to consider some people to be "insufferable a$$holes" them you might be the one with the problem.

That was a hilarious comment. Thanks for a good laugh.

Ok, Chewing gum, dear, is a totally HUMAN CREATION. Out from nothing, I don't know. But what is nothing, anyway.

Well yes, violating the laws of conservation of mass and conservation of energy kind of get in the way of making something from nothing. However, no follower of any religion (despite the sizable overlap of scientific and religious people) has ever accomplished any such feat either. You also have no evidence that any God ever did any such thing other than a book that tells you that the Earth is a flat circle and has a star orbiting it. And sadly, as much of an asshole as that one individual may be, hasty generalizations are not a valid form of evidence. Even then, being insufferable is annoying, but it doesn't make someone a morally bad person.

If fundies are as capable of being civilized human beings as ordinary Christians or atheists/agnostics, how come they're all insufferable assholes like you, cgray Says?

I don't know if this computer was created out of nothing but you nobody would know your thesis if you didn't use it. Food for thought as well?

'How many scientists have created something out of nothing? Zero? Not even a stick of juicy fruit gum?'

"Most gum today is made of a synthetic rubber known as polyisobutylene, which is an artificial product. You know, artificial. Like man-made."

And if God supposedly 'created' all lifeforms that exist on Earth today, how can cgray account for the bacteria that feeds on Nylon? Again, an artificial substance. Man-made. Which didn't exist until the 20th Century.

The Labradoodle. A breed of dog that didn't exist until 1988.

The basis of a smoke detector (in the ionising chamber), in the sensor: Americium. a completely man-made radioactive isotope, that doesn't exist in nature.

"P.S.–If atheists are just as capable of being as moral and decent as believers, how come they all seem to be insufferable a$$holes like you, Phil?"

Jim Bakker. Jimmy Swaggart. Ted Faggard. Kent Hovind. Tony Alamo. David J. Stewart. Scott Roeder.

I love the smell of annihilated arguments in the morning. Smells like... victory.

... as moral and decent as believers, how come they all seem to be insufferable a$$holes ...

Trolling in forums, calling other people a**h**** is "moral and decent"? Very interesting definition of "moral and decent". Is this what you call "christian morality", "cgray"? At least, it fits with the behaviour of your "god".

You know, it's your faith that teaches that God created a universe out of nothing so it's not your right to judge.
