Quote# 72604

Homosexuals have no history of slavery, Jim Crow, lynching or being legally defined as 2/3 of a person. I have known people who have been delivered from homosexuality. I have never known anyone to be delivered from being black. The Democrat Party's commitment to abortion, homosexuality and moral relativism is an affront to the values of the black Christian community. It is a 'Coalition of the godless.' Black Christians do not belong in a 'coalition of the godless,' and should not vote for those who are.

Really? Homosexuals have no history of persecution? What about the kid in Florida who was beaten to death for being gay? Or the one beaten & left tied to a fence to freeze to death just because he was gay? What about all the laws prohibiting gay marriage?

And nobody's ever been "delivered" from homosexuality. They may surpress their true sexual desires, but you can't "cure" anyone from being gay.

I wonder if the good ole bishop knows that african americans can be homosexual too.

It's 3/5 by the way, hence the "Three-Fifths Compromise." Also, you might want to study up on the Harlem Renaissance and black power movements a bit more. It was quite common for blacks to be "delivered" from being black in the sense that black culture was suppressed and that many light skinned blacks tried to hide their true race.

Mister Spak

Except for christianists saying they souldn't be allowed to have jobs, or should be sent to an island somewhere, or beaten up and tied to a fence, or not really being human.

"I have known people who have been delivered from homosexuality."

These people were as delusional as you are.

"The Democrat Party's commitment to abortion, homosexuality and moral relativism is an affront to the values of the black Christian community."

The republic partys commitment to death, hate bigotry and anti Americanism is an affront to to the values of America.

Homosexuals don't deserve equal rights because they haven't been persecuted enough?

By this logic, the Bishop would support homosexuals rights if they went through a few hundred years of slavery.

Guess what? Homosexuals had worse than that.

Alan Turing begs to differ. Man saved countless lives on BOTH sides without firing a single shot by the use of his brain and made our lives easy and we hounded him to death because he was gay.

Who or what is Jim Crow? Aha, legalized separation. If I'm not mistaken there are gay bars and straight bars?
Googling "gay lynching" gave 142 000 responses.
Gay people can't marry their loved one and they have a hard time adopting. That is almost like being not a complete citizen.

Citations needed for the "delivered from homosexuality". How many month did it take until they were themselves again?
One person has been "delivered" from being black; Michael Jackson.

What the Democrat party is committed to is tolerance, respect and human rights. Nobody is promoting abortions, but it must be available for those who need it. It's the lesser of two evils.

Moral relativism? You mean things like "treat others as you want to be treated", "that which you do to the least of my people, you do unto me", and "love thy neighbor as yourself"? That kind of liberal bullshit?

Let's see.

Homosexuals pay taxes, get drafted (and we'll happily use them as cannon fodder as long as they keep teh ghey to themselves) and serve jury duty. They are the doctor that treats you in the emergency room, the fireman that saves your house, the police officer that patrols your streets. AND YET. In most places, they cannot marry the consenting adult that they love. Until recently, it was up in the air whether or not they'd be able to have their family (and yes, two loving partners DO make a family) in to visit them in the hospital. People want to keep them from adopting. People want to fire them from their jobs. People think that they have a right to assault them. People think that they should be jailed because they are born gay. BORN GAY. It's the truth. Now, if that is not oppression, I do not know what is.

"What the Democrat party is committed to is tolerance,"

Obviously not when it comes to christianity huh? Anything that christian morality/theology considers wrong that might go against another is shamed as being hateful, and dismissed. christians being asked to toss out their beliefs and their duty to influence their governments...yeah supressing religion to promote others beliefs is NOT tolerance. Not to mention trying to elimnate the word God every where in public including private institutions, to not offend the minority of atheists in the US

"Moral relativism? You mean things like...blah blah blah"

No we mean the kind of moral ity that whatever you believe is right; that there is no such thing as anything that is always wrong. I.e. you feel its right to beat children...if you believe it is right that no one can say its wrong...THAT kind of moral relativism.

No, we've only had to deal with being killed if we were ever discovered, having to live a covert life, dealt with blackmail if anyone ever discovered who we really were, and are to this day, denied rights that are owed to us, simply because we don't love in the same way the majority do. Not to mention random police raids on homosexual establishments, which ended up being a cover to charge in and rough up some faggots. We cannot even be openly gay in the fucking military.

You're right, we didn't face NEAR the adversity African-Americans have. We should be silent until we suffer as you have, I suppose...

Drop dead.

Remind me again, where in the bible does it say that black people must be executed for the crime of existing again? The only reason that gay people have not been persecuted worse than African Americans is that you can't tell if someones gay by looking at their skin.

Wait a minute. Is he saying that being black is an abomination? He's a twofer! We just need the "black people are secretly in alliance with the gays to take over the government" for the trifecta!

@DOS

No. The limit of tolerance is at the feet of those who wish harm on others based on their hatred and won't listen to reason. And, hate to break it to you, but it always will be from now on.

"Anything that christian morality/theology considers wrong that might go against another.."
"christians being asked to toss out their beliefs and their duty to influence their governments..."

You can spout off that homosexuality is wrong all you like. No one's stopping you. In fact, we'd prefer bigots be honest about their opinions so we can shine a big spotlight on them and use reason to point out why it's wrong.

But we will never sit quietly by and let you pass discriminatory laws that have no basis in fact just because you think your personal beliefs are above the law. That is an illusion you choose to believe in, but don't EVER fool yourself into thinking we will be made to respect that.

"you feel its right to beat children...if you believe it is right that no one can say its wrong..."

Seriously, you DO know there's a big difference between two adult men harmlessly consenting to sex, and an adult beating or raping a child, right? And just how many liberal and/or Democratic groups are dedicated to keeping government out of the business of protecting children from abuse?

Like how the Catholic Church believes it has the God-given right to prioritize its reputation above the suffering of countless children being beaten and raped. Are you THAT far right that you're now going to tell us the Catholic Church is a liberal organization?
