It's just the usual Republican bullshit, something like this should be shocking, but at this stage it's just expected.
Sad to see how bad American politics has got.

Different day, same old shite. I sadly can't say I'm surprised.
By the way, someone should mention that the God-ordained marriage was more like one man, many wives, some concubines and then some on the side.

After reading this, there are two things I can no longer stand to hear:
1- "There are extremist crazies on both side. Both parties are just as corrupt so it doesn't really matter who I vote for"
and even more unbearable:
2-"I'm a moderate Republican, socially liberal but fiscally conservative. I don't really buy into all the religious stuff"
After ten plus years of a party that's been highjacked by the lunatic fringe, who'd official leaders are people like Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, and Glenn Beck
After creating a private mercenary army, threatening the judiciary, destroying the economy, passing the Arizona immigration law, and now this????
How can any sane moderate person not walk away??? Why is none of this a deal-breaker for you?
Anyone who is not suffiently bothered by this to leave the party can no longer claim that "some of thier best friends are gay", and you can't come to our parties

"Family and Defense of Marriage – We support the definition of marriage as a God–ordained, legal and moral commitment only between a white man and a white woman, which is the foundational unit of a healthy society, and we oppose the assault on marriage by judicial activists."
Same shit, different decade.

I believe the fault in your argument lies in the postulation of an imaginary mythical entity as the source for the authority of your statement.

re: Red Light camera ban: If you're stupid enough to let the kind of person who runs red lights drive your car, you deserve to pay that fine. Think of it as an idiot tax.
The "avoiding voter fraud" section is excellent, but there's so much fail in so much of the platform that it kind of negates this section.
10 commandments: I agree. If I ever set foot in Texas (highly unlikely after reading the dominant party's platform), I will proudly display a Triple-Goddess symbol. As this is a religious symbol, surely there will be no protest if I wear it in public, or place a "Goddess Bless America" sign on public grounds. ;)
re: "Family Values": Fuck you, Texas. They are people. Anyone who treats gay people as anything less than people is, in fact, a bigot and deserves to be denounced as one.
re: "Homosexuality" and "sodomy statutes": "Fundamental, unchanging truths" such as polygamy? Buying people from the neighboring countries as slaves? Stoning disobedient children? Oh, wait--all those laws were "nailed to the cross" and therefore don't apply. Not to mention the extreme difficulty of successfully accusing someone of buttsex without being yourself guilty of voyeurism. But hey, if Joe is somewhat effeminate and talks with a lisp, we're totally justified in bugging his bedroom to see if he's having gay orgies in his bedroom, right, Texas Republicans? It's not like the Fourth Amendment prohibits unwarranted searches or anything...oh, wait.
re: banning pornography: Good fucking luck. If you have the materials necessary to draw or write ANYTHING, you can create pornography. That means that every single Texan is a potential pornographer.
I can't read any further, the fail is just too strong.

But the GOP also wants us not to pay any taxes, so how are they gonna fund the army of bedroom, schoolroom, and internet police?

When conservatives means "small government", they mean cutting out all the bloat added to government programs to compensate for abuse and fraud of the system and replace it with a system where people are under so much government scrutiny that they won't have the opportunity to cheat.*
*note: applies to the general population only, conservative politicians are exempt

Can the entire government of Texas be shipped off to Saudi Arabia for a year so they can learn what it's really like to live in a theocracy?

Secede already, will ya? You guys are making the rest of the country look bad. I promise, we wont complain or anything. Go become the Nation of Texas or whatever bullshit you have in mind and you can call marriage anything you like (that is until Mexico annexes you).

Just more American bigotry, this time from the Repukes.
Mix US bigotry with US exceptionalism and you get US Assholeism.

"Natural man and a natural woman"?
Ooh, so not only do you want to oppose marriage for gay people, you want to take the right of marriage away from those who already have it (the intersexed and transgendered)?
Why do you hate love, Repubicans?

The more the Republican party allies itself with the religious right on issues, the further it distances itself from intelligent conservatives looking for an alternative to the Democrats. There was a time when intelligent discourse would take place on important issues. This time is long gone. This Republican party is burrowing itself into irrelevance.

"Fuck it, I'm tired of defending my fellow Texans."
Which is why this quote by Gunnery Sgt. Hartman (R. Lee Ermey) from "Full Metal Jacket" is dedicated specifically to those in the Texas GOP Party Platform:
'
Holy dog shit. Texas?! Only steers and queers come from Texas. And you don't look much like a steer to me so that kinda narrows it down. Do you suck dicks?!'

Neither the United States nor any state shall recognize or grant to any unmarried person the legal rights or status of a spouse.
so, that means no one can get married, unless they're already married?
