Colorblind racism strikes again. Obviously, skin color SHOULD make no difference to anyone, but in the U.S. there is a long history of it making a difference in a lot of things, and that history is far from over.
You can't just declare racism over and expect it to be. Until people can talk about existing racism without getting "well, I don't hate black people" or "but everyone's equal now right?" or "but you're the one talking about race while I'm ignoring it like a good little clueless white person!" then nothing will happen.

But being Goth is one of the better choices one can make, because it encompasses some of the darker music genres out there, a spectrum that includes gothic rock, deathrock, darkwave, industrial, many sub-genres of metal, neofolk, among others.
