Quote# 74438

The garden of eden shames eve for listening to the satanic serpent, and shames adam for listening to his wife rather than taking his correct position as the head of the relationship.

I think it has a parallel with modern society, women listen to the femistate trouble makers, men then listen to the women because they want pussy.. Men would otherwise refuse to take the femistate trouble makers seriously, so women are the tool of the femistate to get men to comply..

Biblical stories seem to be about showing folk what is right and wrong, and consequences of actions..

Since civilisation was built on the back of such, it cant be a bad thing surely?

Statism has become the new religion, and law has become the new bible..

But is it better than its predecessor?

Couldn't be worse.

I stopped reading after this person says that Eve listened to a talking snake and appeared ready to base a logical argument off of that notion.

Seriously, what world do this people live in?

Yes.

Biblical stories seem to be about showing folk what is right and wrong, and consequences of actions..

Great!

So when I rape your young daughter, you will hold a wedding for us?

"Statism has become the new religion..." Yeah right!

"...and law has become the new bible.. " One can only wish...

The myth of Adam and Eve fails to account for a couple of things:

Why did God place a deadly tree in the garden he constructed for his creations?

Why were Adam and Eve blamed for the "crime" of eating from the tree when they were ignorant of the consequenses?

If I place a pearl-handled, nickel-plated .45 pistol in the playpen with a 1-year-old, and tell the child not to play with it - then leave the room, who in their right mind would blame the child for blowing his own brains out (or someone elses')? Yet this is virtually exactly the 'argument' fundies make when talking about the 'garden' and 'original sin'.

As a T-shirt I saw so aptly put it:

EVE WAS FRAMED

The garden of eden shames eve for listening to the satanic serpent, and shames adam for listening to his wife rather than taking his correct position as the head of the relationship.

Adam was specifically told by god himself not to eat the fruit, Eve wasn't. So if anything it's god that dropped the ball there not Eve.

I think it has a parallel with modern society, women listen to the femistate trouble makers, men then listen to the women because they want pussy

Listening to women is not a bad thing.

Men would otherwise refuse to take the femistate trouble makers seriously, so women are the tool of the femistate to get men to comply..

Uh, I take feminists seriously and that's all on my own.

Biblical stories seem to be about showing folk what is right and wrong

Well then it failed spectacularly. It commands us not to kill and then immediately afterward Moses goes and kills people, it commands us not to commit adultery but then god commands the Hebrews to rape the virgins of a conquered land, it legitimizes slavery, it's punishments are barbaric, and the only lesson in the whole damn book is "listen to the cosmic dictator in the sky or else".

Since civilisation was built on the back of such, it cant be a bad thing surely?

Except that civilization existed long before Christianity and, in fact, long before even Judaism. So civilization was NOT built on the Bible by any stretch of the imagination.

Statism has become the new religion, and law has become the new bible..

WTF is this shit? Since when is rule of law a religion? I'm convinced now, you morons think that EVERYTHING you disagree with is a religion: atheism, liberalism, evolution, homosexuality, and now the rule of law.

But is it better than its predecessor?

While modern law is not perfect, it's certainly better than the Iron Age law found in the Bible.

I don't understand, haahoo. Men listening and consulting with their wives and partners is the reason we don't live in caves anymore.

"But is it better than its predecessor?"

If you are in any sort of minority, including in many countries a practicing christian minority, or female, then the answer is overwhelmingly yes.

If you are part of a religious majority (or former majority), especially if you are a man, then probably not.

Who or what is a "femistate"? If you mean feminism, then women are most certainly not the "tool" of feminism, we ARE the feminists.
(Not all of us, sure, but many of us. And very, very few of us hate all men. Mostly we want men AND women to have the same opportunities AND responsibilities.)

Antimisandry, that must be androphilia, right?
What is statism?

Biblical stories seem to be about God telling people to not do certain things, then he either goes and does the things himself, or orders his followers to do them.
Consistency, schmonsistency...

You mean that men and women are starting to realize that it's in their best interests (as well as those of society and the species as a whole) to compromise and be on equal footing so as to better control the manner in which they propagate the species? I'm shocked, really I am.

You don't have to be a misogynist to disapprove of misandry.

Actually, the fall was a liberation for humans. No longer were they in a golden cage with a sociopathic god that tried to trick them by planting trees with "forbidden fruits" and sending talking snakes.

@Swede: "Antimisandry, that must be androphilia, right?"

Which, if this is a man posting, makes him a homosexual. So he should be safe from the "femistate", since he does not want "pussy".

This is fun, too (from the thread):

"Im certainly not buying the idea that "women were even lower on the social ladder than they are today" back in biblical days. What is the evidence for that?

Exempted from military duty, exempted from death by virtue of being born of a particular gender, not having to prove themselves as good hard workers and providers prior to being married..

Come on now!! The lowest social class, then as now, has always been the exclusive male domain.. Women have always been above the masses of low status men.."

7/13/2010 9:40:01 AM

No, according to your theory men are stupid enough not to think for themselves. Or think and make things even worse(e.g wars). Try better.

This all begs the question (among many others):

Why did an all perfect god create a perfect pair of humans who fucked up so bad on the very first generation!?

Sounds like they were built to spill.

And that would explain how the Wicked Witch (a female) got to control the flying monkeys! I knew it had to be something like that!

If God is omnipresent and all knowing and can tell the future and all that jazz, then he would know that the Tree of Life was to great a temptation. Thus when Eve ate the fruit, she really set about the plans for in the future for God (as Jesus) to come down and be crucified and resurrect from the dead thus proving him to be God.

So if anything you should be thanking Eve for eating the fruit and woman should have been treated like equals for it.

Ah well, your still a misogynistic twit.

7/13/2010 10:52:13 AM

Allegory for Jesus

I get it now! The real original sin was Adam not telling Eve to just shut up and get him a sandwich!

Also: yes, law is much better than fairy tales. Not perfect, but better no doubt.

7/13/2010 11:19:17 AM

Do I have to stone my own child if they talk back to me? No? Then modern law is better than its predecessor the Bible.

The opposite of misandry is not misogyny. Women are not to blame because you're a sad sack and vice versa.
