Who needs reasonabile, adult discussion, when you can call anyone who disagrees with you a liberal and be done with it?

To try to say that Christians hold that viewpoint is ridiculous.
I'm a Christian, and I hold that viewpoint...

Everybody picks and chooses the parts of the Bible they want to believe. The Bible disagrees with itself all over the place, so it's impossible for anyone to follow it 100%. In fact, the Christian fundamentalists who claim to follow the Bible word-for-word are the worst offenders. They choose their opinions first, then cherry-pick the Bible so they can claim God agrees with them. Most Christians believe the Old Testament is not intended to be taken literally on matters of science or history, reflecting as it does not what God actually said but a flawed bronze age human understanding of it. This isn't a "liberal" thing - it's been true since the earliest Christians. Augustine of Hippo wrote extensively on the subject in the 4th century. That's why most major Christian sects have no problem with evolution. It's only Baptists, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses and other minor Christian denominations that worry about it.

Yeah, right, no real, true Christian would ever believe in evolution. They must be damn, dirty liberals.
those "clergy" are just a bunch of liberals that have tried to pick and choose the parts of the Bible they want to believe, if any.
Just like every other Christian ever.

I agree. All true Christians know that scientific knowledge is inimical to their faith. Thank you, Brian G. Telling the truth no matter how much it hurts you to.

You know, I'm assuming this guy, since he hates liberals and is Christian, is a republican.
Since he's likely to be a republican, he's against giving to the poor.
Now what did Jesus say about giving to the poor?

When are these airheads going to realize that they don't speak for all Christians?
Oh, I know, maybe when other Christians start publicly and loudly repudiating fundie airheads and their insane ideas rather than deafening everyone with their silence.
The problem is that far too many rational Christians (and no that is not an oxymoron), especially clergy, feel obligated to support rather than condemn their fundie cousins.

Whether you want to believe it or not, Bryan G, only the retarded Christians like you still call evolution false.

It's a pet peeve of mine when people go around saying that political/social/scientific beleiefs are incompatable with Christianity and that holding the two in coexistance makes anyone who believes it "not real Christians."
Grow up, Bryan G. The world is not that absolute and the sooner you realize that, the better off you'll be.

Makes you wonder who's really "christian" doesn't it. Maybe those census numbers, statistics, everything that told you for years that christians are 70% of the population. Maybe they lied. Maybe Your "no true scotsman" definitions have alienated everyone. Maybe it's just you.
Scary shit ain't it.

Well done Bryan G, Christians definitely do not hold that viewpoint. It is impossible for them to be Christians because they are trying to use their intelligence. As we both know Bryan, ignorance and stupidity is the way to go. Everyone knows that science when sufficiently advanced appears to be magic. Well, same thing with religion, except you don't need the sufficiently advanced bit. But to the evil outsider, Christianity looks like magic.
Isn't it typical Bryan, that atheists prefer to follow the path of intelligence and are led by an overwhelming curiosity, whereas Christians follow the short trail of ignorance, reaching stupidity almost immediately. And how much more gratifying is that. In my ignorance I vastly prefer to be ordered about by an ignominious clod and gladly dance a capering jig when a cretinous dolt pulls the strings of my stupidity. I expect you do too Bryan.
