Quote# 74592

I'm not surprised that conservatives want DADT overturned. I do. I want it replaced with "Do ask, Do tell, Do dishonorably discharge."

The last thing we need are more people with honest-to-goodness mental problems in the military.

First off, homosexuality is not a mental illness.

Second, nothing's going to change with DADT gone except for people not having to hide themselves. We're not going to have a mass exodus of people leaving the army or anything like that like you guys seem to think.

I guess that leaves you out.

They're willing to risk their lives to defend America. Doesn't that count for something?

If your opinion of running the military was in any way relevant, you would have a high rank and some bling on your uniform. But you are a jackass on the internet who thinks that violence is good and procreation is bad.

Seeing as how you're unhappy at the idea of people with mental problems in the military, I'm sure you'll be thrilled to hear that mental health authorities agree that homosexuality is not a mental illness, right?

"I'm not surprised that conservatives want DADT overturned. I do. I want it replaced with "Do ask, Do tell, Do dishonorably discharge.""

Personally, I go with "Don't Ask, Don't Give a Damn." It's none of my business in the first place and I don't particularly care what, or in this case who, you're doing.

"The last thing we need are more people with honest-to-goodness mental problems in the military."

Just shut up.

Again: They've been there. They've always been there. They won't ever not be there. They want to fight for this country, for ignorant pricks like you and all.

A Freeper naming himself after the Roman 'God-Emperor' Antoninus? Don't they tar and feather you for that?

I propose replacing DADT with my system of DKDC (don't know, don't care.} Unless you are trying to date a person, whom that person wants to have sex with should be none of your business.

As per the "mental problems" issue, I propose that we don't recruit, don't enlist and discharge any Freepers as they seem to have mental problems.

The only mental issue I can see, is Free Republic. That whole fucking web site is an online asylum for retarded right wing fascists.

Yeah, besides they're lousy fighters. You know, like Alexander the Great, Hadrian, Richard the Lionhearted, Saladin, Frederick the Great, Julius Caesar, Baron Von Steuben, and guys like that.

I'm so tired of this nonsense. There was at least one fairly openly gay person in every unit I ever served in or deployed with.
Unless your mommie kept you home all the time, you've already showered with a gay person in school or at camp. The odds are good you have a gay relative. You may well have had a gay coach or doctor, you just didn't know it. A gay person has seen you naked - your virtual cherry is popped. Now GROW UP.

I don't know which is more offensive, the idea that GLBT people are mentally ill or the idea that those who are genuinely mentally ill should get an other than honorable discharge (as opposed to a medical discharge.)

Right, because you dismissing gays from the military simply for being gay is totally going to make them want to tell you the truth. As we all know, people are incapable of lying, even especially when it's justified. Your plan is absolutely flawless.

In case you're too stupid to tell, that was sarcasm.

The last thing we need are more people with honest-to-goodness mental problems in the military.

So no fundies then?

I'm more worried about redneck bigots in the military. There are a lot more of them than gays, and anyone who gives a crap about who someone else is sleeping with has a mental problem, too.

Yeah, what if they had let queers into the Sacred Band of Thebes?

Does that mean you'll get rid of the fundamentalist Christians then?

Alternately Titled "Antonius' Ick Litmus Test." Antonius is given each soldier's detailed personal information, and if Antonius objects to anything, the sioldier is sent packing. Guess what, honey. Who someone sleeps with doesn't make a person unfit to serve their country. Divisive bigotry like what your displaying here is far, FAR harder on cameraderie than the thought of someone ogling your ass in the showers.

The last thing we need are more people with honest-to-goodness mental problems in the military.
Oh, wholeheartedly agreed. Now, taking into account that the APA has declassified homosexuality as a mental illness (because it doesn't meet the criteria...not because, as I'm sure you're happy to shriek, the evil Libs are taking over, and are using that to destroy society as we know it, through vague, ill-defined means.) kindly tell me what this has to do with any of the above now?

I prefer the "Don't Know, Don't Care Enough to Ask" policy. Does it matter which way someone's pendulum swings as long as they can get the job done? No, therefore it is a waste of time and energy to worry about such matters.

People with honest to goodness mental problems do get discharged. But, there is no reason for homosexuals to be discharged as every one I've worked with in the military has been sane, stable and damn hard workers.

sorry to inform you, but there are people people with honest to goodness mental problems in the military, like PTSD and depression. Let's not forget alcohol and spousal abuse too!
