How do you know the other person's holy book is bad if you don't...oh, fuck it.
You're an idiot.

Ugh, I took a look through the thread. It amazes me that these people cannot look objectively upon themselves for even a split second.
It saddens me, how unintelligent they seem to be.

Actually, it's more like saying "I'll read your lurid, poorly written book of improbable horror fantasy if you'll read Twilight".

Yep. Reading something other than the Bible leads to death. It's that kind of "reasoning" that lets the indoctrinated stay indoctrinated. The most clear-cut example of what closed-mindedness really is.

Err, that's not ice-cold spring water you're drinking, that's a bucket of crap. Also, I've read many holy books and I'm still perfectly healthy. So much for your cyanide analogy. And really, for any book to 'poison' you, you have to believe it first otherwise it's no different from reading a novel.

Well, at least you're rational and open-minded about it.

Wow, that's a whole thread of stupid. One of the posters is worried that the friend is using the trade to try and convert the Christian. Imagine how rude that would be.

With the Bible being the cyanide to the other person?

Here's another gem from the same thread:
Tell him you have already found the Truth, and you have no obligation to read anything else. It is not your job to convince him to read anything. If he wants to find the Truth, he will seek it.
EDIT: To be fair, the second part is actually not that bad as at least he's not being pushy. Still, the first sentence highlights the closed-mindedness we've come to expect from fundies.

[Re: I'll read the Qur'an if you read my holy book]
to me that's like someone saying, "i'll take a sip of your ice-cold spring water if you agree to take a sip of my cyanide."
i'd politely say, "no thanks".
See what changing one word does to your argument?

Firstly, I'd die of shock if you reacted to ANYONE outside your little cult with anything even approaching "polite." You'd likely subject them to an hour long tirade as to the fact that they are wrong, hellbound, lied to, and possibly a demon incognito.
Secondly, didn't Jesus say that those that believed in him, and had true faith, could drink poison without harm? Wassamatta? Cold feet?

Except drinking from the Bible is like sipping lukewarm diarrhea.

It takes a special kind of mental fortitude to observe the other person drink something, notice they are still alive, and then deduce "okay, that guy was obviously drinking cyanide, which I won't drink, because that'd kill me."

fear of knowledge is the worst kind of fear. I was in the same boat. I read the Koran (fuck it was vague and boring). Did he read the god delusion? No. Prick.

Well then, why should we bother reading your little book? Fair is fair, oh wait, that only applies to you and your fellow Christfans, right?
Btw, very appropriate username there.

I wonder... if the legends of the Greek gods on Mount Olympus had contained the phrase "This book is true", what would today's world be like...?

Well. Here's one who won't ever try to convince anyone that they arrived at their Faith through a logical process of weighing various religions and choosing the one that makes the most sense.
Right?

A version of "la la la - I can't hear you". Basically he's saying "I'm so sure I'm right that I don't even want to hear anything else for fear it will make me doubt my arrogant assurance".

So itll kill u 2 look at other peoples views?
Ive read the Bible, the Quran, I've even read Mein Kampf (and I'm very antiNazi) and I'm still alive. It helps to understand how the other side thinks.

I'll read the bible if you read even one page of the stuff saved to my external hard drive. Double points if your head doesn't go boom.
