[Q - If we're made in God's image, why aren't we invisible?]

who says he is invisible.. Maybe we just cannot see him.. God created our ability to see, but we see onlya limited level of light rays.. Dogs and animals can see on higher color spectrums than we humans.. Maybe we just dont see whats out there, but its there nontheless..

He's not invisible but we can't see him. That's because we don't recognise him when we see him.
Us Biblical Literalists (TM) know that he has wings and feathers. Chapter 91 Verse 4.

We're all missing the obvious follow-up.

"SOoo.... We're made in God's image, and we can only see a limited range of light. That means that God can't see infrared or ultraviolet or anything else beyond what we can see... right?"

I read about the afterlife

So god is in the UV? So, if I wear UV sunglasses, will I be protected from him? What an easy way to avoid hell!

"who says he is invisible.. Maybe we just cannot see him.."

Dictionary fail.

"Dogs and animals can see on higher color spectrums than we humans.. "

Dog knowledge fail.

"Maybe we just dont see whats out there, but its there nontheless.."

Like evolution? Big bang? Not seeing it because of fundie stupidness fail?

Only fictional, invisible cosmic overlords can act as if they they were exactly the same as the insane old farts with cosmologically sized egos who lust after ever younger and younger virginal girls, and in many cases young boys. And only insane old farts with cosmologically sized egos who lust after ever younger and younger virginal girls, and in many cases young boys, invent fictional, invisible cosmic overlords. They do this because they are projecting and wishing that they were omnipotent, invisible and immortal with the means to do as they wished with any young virginal girls, or boys, of their choosing, in perpetuity and with impunity.

Is it just an evolved mechanism? Another method of spreading ones genes gone slightly out of control in an over-the-top and dangerous manner? Whatever, it's a highly useful method for repulsive and scabrous old scrotes.

Are you suggesting that God is a Yautja ('Predator')?! Because only they (apart from the Romulans, but their cloaking devices are for their ships only) can become invisible, and (as shown in "Predator II") can vary the ranges of their sight bioelectronically.

However, we humans in recent years have developed technologies for military (missile sensor suites etc) and civilian rescue use (fire, earthquake recovery etc) devices that can see heat via thermal imaging (like a Yautja), and even in the infra-red and ultra-violet ends of the electromagnetic spectrum too. So why can't we still see him? (check one):

[ ] He's a Yautja with a far more sophisticated cloaking device.

[ ] He doesn't exist.

Choose wisely. Either way, you're fucked, Mintee. Why? Because, if your 'God' is a Yautja, then to quote from said "Predator" films" 'You're one ugly motherfucker!'. And if, as you lot claim 'we are all made in God's image', then we humans are (certainly aesthetically) superior to God. Although I can't be sure about his own believers...:

@Panz

"So your argument basically destroys it's self, doesn't it?

God created my ability to see, but chose to give me limited vision so we can't see him so we know for absolute fact he exists so that we can burn forever for simply being born in certain parts of the world or for doubting something to exist when there's no evidence...is this something a perfect, loving God does?"

With the application of a little logic (and in some cases, turning their own questions against them, as I have in past comments), by definition, fundies' own arguments destroy themselves. It's almost like a psychological quirk unique to fundies (as they are possessed by the 'Holy Spirit', they undergo a neuropsychological lobotomy), having their critical thinkig faculties surgically removed, with no subconscious logical support; a kind of intellectual suicidal tendency, if you will. And they wonder why Atheism's star is in the ascendant?

"Kinda like giving Adam and Eve no knowledge of right or wrong and sticking a tree next to them that isn't to be eaten from. Why not just not put the tree there?

He gives you free will, but if you use that free will to question him or his existance, you burn for eternity....

God set us up to fail, he knew we would, he created us to and foresaw us failing."

'We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes.'

He's not invisible, He's just found the perfect hiding place! (He's behind the fish in the tree in the Highlights Magazine)

"God is a vampire! Run!"

Or, according to the "Blade" films, I could destroy God by using nothing more than a UV lamp.

Well, apparently YOU say he's invisible.

"Maybe we just dont see whats out there, but its there nontheless.."

In other words, "We can't detect God's presence in any way at all, but we know he's out there!" Yeah, that's real convincing.

This is made a lot funnier by the fact that I finished reading Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde today, a book all about society where class is organised by the limited part of the visual spectrum each citizen can see.

It makes very little sense, but it's still a great book. Unlike fundies, who make very little sense and reading them makes me want to hurt something,

We can detect the entire electromagnetic spectrum from 0 Hz all the way to cosmic rays. There's a constant 160 GHz "glow" that, as near as we can tell, pervades the universe. That's below infrared and somewhere in the very short microwave range. Is that God? If so, He's pretty cold, so we're definitely not made in His image. Maybe it's Satan. We tend to think it's a natural remnant of the Big Bang. It's about the right frequency for it.
