When I was in Ireland this year it was quite clear that the Northern Irish are not fans of President Bush. This seems to stem more from the fact that President Bush and Prime Minister Blair are friends who are working together more than anything else. Conversely, I did not hear anywhere near as much negative about President Bush in Scotland. So, the conquered drunks don't like our president and the unconquered, non-terrorist Scots do. Druken terrorist types vs proud defenders. I think we have a commonality of feelings here.

I just don't even know where to begin. So, the Irish in Northern Ireland are conquered, but the Scots in Scotland aren't? How does that work? The English conquered both! At least the Irish managed to get 2/3 of their country back. It's called the Republic of Ireland, look it up.
Oh, and the Irish are drunkards, but the Scots aren't?! If you're going to stereotype, at least be consistent!
Practically everybody hates Bush, especially in the UK. You apparently were unlucky enought to meet the few Scots who didn't.
Hey I live in Scotland, trust me, we think your President is as much of a dick as the Irish do.
PS Why not mention that "not conquered" theory over here sometime...you'll love the reaction you get. Honest!
Megan: "Wheelchair to aisle four please", besides, Scotland and England have been trying to conquer each other ever since the romans finished their little wall.
Didn't it all finish up with James VI of Scotland becoming James VI of Scotland and I of England?
Everywhere I've been around Europe, liking President Bush is pretty much taboo these days.
Yet it's better than a few years ago. Now, you can at least express support for America, as long as you make it clear you disprove of its foreign politics.
Glasgow, Scotland , has the lowest life expectancy in Europe. This is primarily due to high levels of alcoholism.
Not really "proud defenders"...
I assure you, being a British citizen, that all the peoples of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland ALL hate your pathetic (nearly-ex!)President. BTW, the entire world outside America hates George Bush. Not just an Irish thing.
@ Brooke Ella: Pretty much the entire world in America hates Bush too.
@mrmoderate: Being half Irish, let me give you a sincere I will end you and all you love!
Trust me; we Scots think your President is even more incompetent that our first Minister.
And for the record Sanechick; the English didn't conquer anyone; the Union was formed when a Scottish King inherited the English throne.
Currently we have more power over England because we have a devolved Parliament and they don't.
Trust me; we Welsh also think your President is even more incompetent that our first Minister.
And for the record Sanechick; the English didn't conquer anyone; the Union was formed when a Scottish King inherited the English throne from the Welsh Tudors.
Currently we have more power over England because we have a devolved Assembly and they don't.

PS: I'm looking for independence, for several reasons. One of those is that we won't have to worry about the Prime Minister sucking up to the US anymore.
"Conversely, I did not hear anywhere near as much negative about President Bush in Scotland"
Like most Americans you just shut it out after awhile.(CNN and Fox news is the way you do it at home) You were probably telling people you were Canadians by the time you got to Scotland. Every country with honest journalism knows Bush is an idiot
*Breathes raggedly* I can comment on this without my head exploding. I can. I can!
- No, we're not. We hate Bush. We hate you, too. So does the vast majority of Scotland.
- We're Northern Irish, and the drunk stereotype goes hand-in-hand with the red-haired leprechaun stereotype of the South.
- Go back to Irish History 101 and study it. We didn't get our ass conquered.
- Everyone in NI is a terrorist, huh? Just like everyone in the US is a grossly obese, Bush-supporting, country-and-western-loving, fundie whackjob.
See how these generalisations fail us in the realm of LogicLand?
In closing, on behalf of everyone in Ulster, Eire and Scotland - stay the FUCK away from our countries, bitch!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
