'I'm suprised at this one actually: would have thought she'd be a cult hero to News of the World readers
(for the benefit of readers outside the UK, I should point out the News of the World - owned by Rupert Murdoch - is known as one of the trashiest, most sex-obsessed tabloid papers in the UK.)'
Indeed. Not for nothing is this rag that's only worth lining the bottom of birds' cages (and my aunt does, using The Sun*, Sunday Sport, NotW & other vile tabloids in her canary's cage; like me, she reads the Independent & Guardian, fortunately) nicknamed "The News of the Screws"; in the context of dingalinggirls' quote, a definite case of 'The irony, it burnss uss precioussss!'
*- In Ruptured Retards, one news source that's to be avoided is "The Sun". More proof of the inconsistency, double standards & hypocrisy of that wretched hive of scum and villainy: So the sheep in RR have been instructed to not trust what's printed in "The Sun"; but they forget who owns that newspaper, and what it's a part of: Rupert Murdoch's News International. Who also owns the NI TV subsidiary Fox News, the 'Fair and Balanced' & trusted news source so beloved of Ruptured Retards.
Ah, the doublethink of the right-wing fundie Raptard. It knows no bounds."
A funny thing happened on the way to the newspaper shop last week. As with 'A Week is a Long Time in Politics', a day can annihilate a 168-year old newspaper. With the increasing scandal re. the News of the World's own hacking of phones, the political, nay public outrage at such resulted in Rupert Murdoch having no choice but to permanently close down this vile rag. Oh, and a question, Rupiepoos: if said hacking were mere 'allegations', why close down the paper in the first place? Isn't the act of doing so basically an admission of guilt?.
So there's one source of conservative news dissemination closed to you, Ruptured Retards (unlike "The Sun", I notice the "News of the World" wasn't mentioned in your list of untrustworthy sources?! >:D ).
And so to the nub of my gist: the phone hacking wasn't just isolated to that part of News International - or even in this country, for that matter - it's happened in the US too.
Rupert Murdoch's only other main source of profit revenue (and the "NotW" was massive; that & "The Sun" essentially subsidised his other paper, a loss-maker from the start, "The Times") - Faux News - is screwed.
What can they do now? Refuse to cover said hacking scandal spreading to America, so as to not offend their boss/owner? Can't live in that news river in Egypt forever. And even if they did, the fact said scandal & the investigation of such, called by Democrat senators, they can't criticise (a la "The Sun"), so they've painted themselves into a political corner, bias-wise. Then there's the little matter of Faux News now being a poisoned chalice themselves, being in the fetid pustulent barrel that is News International. To say nothing of News International's share price crashing through the floor (and people selling such like there's no tomorrow). Then there's the little matter of Murdoch's bid for the rest of BSkyB being dropped completely, which isn't doing much for whatever's left of his stock's confidence.
He's lost whatever respect he had in UK politics - even in the Conservative Party, who he basically pulled the strings, media-wise.
One word, Rupiepoos: Hubris.
Should be interesting to see how said hacking scandal in the US unfolds - thus I'll be keeping abreast of such. And it's effects on Faux News.
Good. If things do explode over there the same way they have over here, there'll be brown trousers all round at Faux News. Better pray that you'll be taken over by a rival (NBC, ABC, CBS - or even CNN) - and the editorial content changes; basically (to keep your jobs) you'll have to be pro-Democrat.
One word: Schadenfreude.
