Our government is out to kill unborn babies so that they cannot grow up and preach the gospel of Jesus.

And you know for a fact that these unborn babies would grow up to preach the gospel of Jesus??
Wow, you are good. Can I have the winning lottery numbers for next week please???
Always with this idea of intentionally spiting the Christ. Look, when Paul said that the law of God was written in the hearts and minds of humanity, I'm confident he was referring to the general philosophy of the Sermon on the Mount &c, not the 613 commandments in detail, or the (alleged) decree to abase oneself before the Christ!

It's funny - the OP asked why a drunk driver killing a pregnant woman's baby is murder and abortion isn't, and someone quoted Exodus 21:22 - the one where the Bible implies that the drunk driver should pay the father a fine, as if he had killed one of the father's goats. So much for the Bible's stand against abortion.
There is so much wrong in so short a sentence.
Can you produce any documents that show your government, in a country where the majority are Christian, is out to eliminate all of you? I suspect this is more fundie paranoid delusions.
Furthermore, I guess you believe no religious families have ever raised people who later became atheists.
Brilliant! They should make this into the plot for a movie. They could get the guy who writes the "Left Behind" series to write the script, with help from Jack Chick and Gene "The Wisest Human" Ray. And the twist could be that the government is secretly run by aliens.
"Government killin' our babies so that they can't grow up and preach the Gospel!". Rated R for nudity, gratuitous abortions, abject insanity, and uncut Bible verses. Coming 2012.
They can also not grow up and become drug addicts and/or criminals. Which is more probable, as they are unwanted children who might otherwise end up in orphanages.
Before we had legal abortions, we had what was know as "angel-makers"; women who took in unwanted kids and neglected to take care of them until they died.
Is that what you prefer, Soldier for Salvation?
Oh, come the fuck on.
Even Hitler mostly made sure the people he killed were the ones he was actually trying to get rid of.
You're suggesting that your government is just randomly killing "people" and hoping they get the right ones. Does that make any sense in the world ever?
O yes... all these sinners are mindlessly running like- sheep! They'll all perish in the Last Day... they can't see, but I do. O yes...
What are you doing?! No! Keep that sleeveless, strapped jacket off me!! I have to destroy our Satanist GOVERNMENT!!!! NOOOOOOO!!!!
SfS's statement in itself is stupid. When you consider what he's responding to, it's even more illogical.
Question: "Why is this considered murder and not abortion?
Lets say a drunk driver crashes into a car that has a woman who is pregnant in it, and she loses the baby, the drunk driver can be charged with murder.
Why is the child's life considered to be important in the case of the drunk driver, yet have no value in an abortion?"
Let's re-phrase this question for accuracy. Why does our government give a fetus the same rights as a baby if the woman incubating this fetus wants to give birth to it?
SfS's answer: Because "Our government is out to kill unborn babies."
If the government is out to kill unborn babies, then why would they charge the drunk driver with negligent manslaughter for killing that fetus? Dumbass.
I don't think children, who, if not aborted, would grow up in homes with parents who were cool with abortion are the kinds of preachers you want.
You know, I'm actually feeling sorry for this guy. How miserable must it be to go through life actually believing that? I don't mean believing in Jesus. I mean believing that there is actually some evil spiritual force and you are fighting against it.
I don't see how you can be happy with that sort of belief system.
Your ebil government, the same government whose whole purpose (in Fundieworld, anyway) is to drain the citizens from their duly earned money, is out to kill unborn babies so that they cannot grow up and... pay taxes ?
Yet you guys also believe that liberals are the ones who have all of the abortions and you believe that liberals are either atheists or not true Christians. The fundie positions are so contradictory, but I guess it's to be expected when you base your worldview on the mess of contradictions known as the Bible.
Some of the other answers are a hoot, too.
"people don't like to consider abortion murder because they find caring for living beings inconvenient"
Wha'?
"WHy is the drunk allowed access to such a destructive dangerous drug"
This is an answer how?
I woke up this morning, as an atheist with an extreme dislike for abortion. It has always bothered me that some women would use such a drastic form of birth control.
You, however, have opened my eyes to new possibilities. To think that we could be witnessing the wholesale prevention of the disease known as christianity.
As long as we have convincing evidence said fetus is definitely an unborn christain, I say, abort already.
Fundies just don't know the meaning of the word 'tedious'.
Instead they try to alter reality to make it fit their world view.
It is probabl;y true to say that they would absolutely revel in a government that had a real policy of aborting pregnant women; that sought out fundies as those who were a danger to the state, and started to persecute them a la Nero (as envisaged by Cecil B. de Mille, of course, and played by Peter Ustinov).
The joy of suffering, however, would no doubt be replaced by bowel loosening fear if they ever had to make the choice between Christ and the beasts in the arena. I rather guess that the beasts would win and they would apostosize. What a delightful moment that would be for the rest of us.
@ Allegory for Jesus
If the bible is Jewish, then all Bible verses should be cut, no? No bad thing either. I approve of a bibles of 666 pages, all blank!
Our government is out to kill unborn babies
So then explain why the government doesn't force, or even encourage, people to have abortions.
so that they cannot grow up and preach the gospel of Jesus.
So the government has a way to see into the future and knows which children will become preachers? If not then what's the point?
Moreover, Why would "the government" want to stop people from preaching in the first place? If they were so intent of that then why don't they crackdown on people who are preaching now? Why do they allow churches to have a tax exempt status? Why do they continue to funnel money into religious institutions through "faith-based" programs?
And last but not least, why would a government in which christianity is vastly over represented compared to the populace be secretly working to undermine the religion that the majority of them belong to?
@Elia
But if they also get the ones who would have grown up to be gay, does that make it OK in your eyes? Just asking.
I've always been of the opinion, If they ever find a way to determine sexuality beore birth, that many christians opposition to abortion would vanish overnight. Most of the fundies that I was raised around simply hate gays more than they do abortion.
So is he saying that most of the people who have abortions are fundamentalist Christians? And how does the US Supreme Court deciding that blanket state laws forbidding all abortions violate the 14th Amendment, which is what Roe v. Wade said, translate to "the government is out to kill unborn babies"?
I'm sure should some state decide to pass a law requiring abortions (a la China's 2 baby limit laws), that would also be forbidden by the US Constitution.
Lol, has this also been put on CSTDT? LOL!
This is too funny for me to even be mad about the "out to kill unborn babies" part
1) You know that the government doesn't force anyone to get an abortion, right? If they were "out to kill unborn babies", don't you think they'd be grabbing pregnant people and subjecting them to abortions against their will?
2) If your claim were true, then wouldn't abortions only be granted to hard-core fundamentalist Bible-thumping Christians, whose children would be at greater risk of growing up to preach the gospel of Jesus? And how many of them would even ask for, or consent to, an abortion anway?
I mean, are you actually serious? Are you incapable of logical thought?
First of all, there's no such thing as an "unborn baby". Second, there are no government mandated abortions and pretty much every sane person I've heard of would like to see fewer abortions. Third, it's you silly fundies who keep standing in the way of comprehensive sex education and access to contraception. Fourth, that pesky Constitution says that the government can't prevent anyone from preaching outside of schools and government offices; though there's a glaring exception in the U.S. military.

No, I think they'd still be opposed to abortion on the outside, but secretly being OK with it if people were aborting gay fetuses. I've seen enough Christian doublethink and hypocrisy to know this would be the case.
Just a thought, Godwin, I know:
Hitler grew up to be Hitler, didn't he? When did he preach the gospel of Jesus? Can anyone like Soldier for Salvation be any stupider? Jeffrey Daumer was also born, and grew up to be... I could continue but why?
Then where will they get all the seventeen-year-olds to send to foreign countries, to kill the brown people, and take their resources for the rich white guys? Huh, "soldier"?
Yes, and that totally explains why 99% of American politicians are openly Christian, and why so many of them keep trying to pass legislation based on Biblical tenets.
Oh, wait, no it doesn't. You're just crazy.
Wow, the logic in this one is twisted beyond recognition...
Surely, the babies who would grow up to preach the gospel of Jesus, are the very same babies whose parents would be vehemently anti-abortion.
People who are pro-choice, also tend to be atheists, and raise their children as atheists. The chances of those same babies being converted to militant Christianity seems slim.
Confused?
