Quote# 75147

Whether we use a medical form of birth control, or Early Withdrawal, or use a calendar to try to avoid conception....it's all the same. It says to God, "I want to be in control of this because I don't trust You to make a wise decision in this area.....so here's a little help!"

Whether we quit smoking, or refuse to drink poison, or install a smoke detector ... it's all the same. It says to God, "I want to be in control of this because I don't trust You to make a wise decision in this area.....so here's a little help!"

And of course, poor, weak God would be totally foiled by birth control.

And so the poor can end up with 15 children, when they can barely afford one. That does everybody a fat lot of good - particularly the children.

Given God's track record, I'd take a little insurance.

David B.

Similarly, whenever you look both ways before crossing the street it says to God, "I want to be in control of this because I don't trust you to keep me safe from harm."

Serph-no-Okami

Then why bother doing anything at all? Why not let God decide every single little detail in your life?

Or alternately, stop annoying the Almighty One with your little annoyances. He's trying to get around to that whole World Peace thing for 6000 years but you people keep bothering him!

"Pray to God but stear clear of the rocks."

Old Indian proverb. Oh, wait, they are godless heathens.

8/12/2010 7:28:13 AM

Mathew

No, it's about having a little self-respect and knowing what's best for yourself.

Doubting Thomas

I certainly wouldn't trust God because without using birth control I'd probably have a houseful of kids I couldn't afford to feed.

Oh wait, it's the Quiverfull people. I wonder how many of them get government assistance or church charity to take care of their 15 kids?

"or use a calendar to try to avoid contraception..."

At first I was confused, because I thought Christians were supportive of natural family planning instead of alternate methods of birth control, but then I saw that it was the Quiverfull people and it all made sense. In a non-sensical kind of way.

You people are crazy and need to get in touch with reality.

I bet that your church has a lightning conductor though.

GodotIsWaiting4U

OR it could be that God is making a wise decision by subtly influencing you to USE birth control. In which case YOU SHOULD USE IT.

muters

God can't interfere with rapists and child killers because it'll meddle with humanity's free will, but woe betide anyone who pulls out before ejaculating.

There's that story about the man who drowned despite having a jeep, a boat, and a helicopter coming to try to save him from the on-coming flood because he believe God will save him.

God's response: "I sent a jeep, a boat, and a helicopter!"

"Guide us God, we yr robots!"

So... have you met the "free will" crowd? They have wonderful theories as to why your imaginary sky fairy never intervenes.

Mrs. Antichrist

Lady, your god is inept as hell.

8/12/2010 9:08:31 AM

Is there any part of life that you holier than thou hateful motherfuckers don't want to exert control over? You want to believe it's God's will when you have a kid, fine. Leave the rest of the world to decide for themselves.

8/12/2010 9:19:49 AM

Shadow Phoenix

If you use contraception and God really wants you to have another kid anyways, you'll get pregnant. Unless you think that you can defy the will of your God with condoms and the Pill.

John_in_Oz

You forgot blow jobs, hand jobs, anal, gay and masturbation.

I've (sort of) trusted in God for years now. No babies whatsoever... Is he saying I would be a bad parent? But Michael Pearl (or Whatshisname, who like to beat his kids with implements) is a good parent? And the woman in the Netherlands or Belgium, who killed her newborn kids and hid them in suitcases in the attic, she is also a good parent?

8/12/2010 9:41:04 AM

Mr. Boston

Actually it's saying to God, "Since I'm the one responsible for raising and paying for the kid, I'll do it when I'm ready."

baileysmom

Oh Lord, I applaud you! You and I are sooo much alike, basking in the glory of God! My little girl Bailey is definitely a breath of homeschooled freshness. Recently, at the age of 14, she has given us another beautiful grandchild! It's her third, and we couldn't be more proud of her for allowing the Lord's seed to live in her womb! Nothing made me prouder than when I walked in her room, to find her on her knees in front of her father, her face covered in the glory of the Lord! Keep up the good work, and don't let Satan get hold of your family. Our well-adjusted daughter is living proof of the power of Christ!

and if she has a complication that could kill her she'll carry on to term (or as close to it as she or it live)

JohnTheAtheist

Why do these people think that god is so concerned with what we do when we are naked? It is really sad and pathetic.

8/12/2010 10:05:13 AM

Berny

The Quiverfull website is chock full of outright lies and misinformation about birth control. These people have no shame.

8/12/2010 10:14:23 AM

dionysus

Uh...I'm pretty sure it's sperm and eggs that control pregnancy, not god. Unless...*pictures Jesus driving in a sperm*

8/12/2010 10:14:34 AM

aaa

I don't think you know that there is a thing called "free will". I don't think you understand that concept.
