No worries then, as it's very hard to overthrow your Constitution. The Shrub tried his best but did not succeed.
Most Muslims in the US do NOT want Sharia laws, that's why they are in the US and not in Iran or Saudi Arabia. As long as you don't persecute Muslims, it will stay that way. But if you persecute them, they will turn back to their old ways, as a way to feel somewhat secure. Wouldn't you?

If you just stopped listening to Glen Beck, and the rest of the right-wing fart garglers, you wouldn't have to live in fear of phantoms.

All governments are political, assface. And 98 percent of all statistics on the internet are pulled out of the writer's ass.
8/15/2010 1:39:48 PM
I was waiting for this piece of bat shit insanity to make it here. I just don't even understand how someone can be this ignorant.
8/15/2010 1:48:51 PM
We have freedom of religion. We do not have the freedom to impose religion on others.

“As a mother and a grandmother, I worry,” Ms. Serafin said. “I learned that in 20 years with the rate of the birth population, we will be overtaken by Islam, and their goal is to get people in Congress and the Supreme Court to see that Shariah is implemented. My children and grandchildren will have to live under that.”
In this context, "learned" apparently means she bought into a chain e-mail hook, line, and sinker. Politifact.com dissected said e-mail and rated it "pants on fire."
Also, if you asshats will quit trying to make this country into a Christian theocracy by ignoring the Constitution, the probability that sharia law could ever be implemented will remain at its current level of absolutely zero.
8/15/2010 1:58:03 PM
Try working out the math. The Muslim population would need to double about once every six years.
You should be more worried about those eight spiders you're going to swallow in your sleep this year.

Well, you're wrong. Thanks for playing.
8/15/2010 2:09:14 PM
This nonsense again? Please. Sharia will never be enacted on US soil.
8/15/2010 2:18:58 PM
What? 20 years is less than one generation you moron.
8/15/2010 2:32:47 PM
You know, I was about to make a snarky comment asking why she wasn't as up in arms over Jewish courts.
But in researching their proper name, I also saw some loonie tunes that thought that the entire American system was being subverted to be replaced by Jewish law.
*grumbles* Yay lunacy.

If we must have an ancient foreign law imposed upon us, I suggest Genghis Khan's 'Yasa.' Most of it has been lost over the years, but it included the death penalty for lying, the death penalty for fouling potable water....well, you see where this is headed. Mongols didn't have prisons.
8/15/2010 3:15:17 PM
Psst. Hey, Ms. Serfin. Can I let you in on a secret?
It's gonna blow your mind, because it's not something Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh would want you to know.
Namely, liberals don't want Sharia law either.
It's that same principle that keeps people like you from establishing a Christian theocracy: the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. Liberals support that. It applies to Sharia law just as much as it applies to Christian theocracy, Jewish theocracy, Flying Spagetti Monster theocracy, and any other theocracy you can name.
8/15/2010 3:17:46 PM
"I learned that in 20 years with the rate of the birth population, we will be overtaken by Islam, and their goal is to get people in Congress and the Supreme Court to see that Shariah is implemented."
I'm pretty sure that in 20 years, or even 200 years, the majority religion of the U.S. is not going to shift quite that much. Not to mention that Shariah law antithetical to pretty much our entire Constitution so I'm not sure how you think they'd pull that off or what good exactly it would do if they did.
"My children and grandchildren will have to live under that."
Yeah. I don't think so.
"“I do believe everybody has a right to freedom of religion,” she said."
So long as it's yours. Or some not too bizarre version of it. Right?
"But Islam is not about a religion. It’s a political government, and it’s 100 percent against our Constitution."
Then you don't really have anything to be bitching about, do you?
8/15/2010 3:20:11 PM
You're right, if Islam was imposed upon the entire country it'd be against the Constitution.
Thankfully it isn't and won't be.
8/15/2010 3:57:00 PM
Allegory for Jesus
The goal of Islam is to get people into Congress and the Supreme Court? That's a stupid purpose for a millennium-old religion, isn't it? I guess what's even more galling is that this isn't even the goal of al-Qaeda. And I thought it was Christianity that "wasn't a religion"? Fundies, work on this!
8/15/2010 3:58:43 PM
I think you're confusing something someone told you about a projected worldwide Islamic population (versus a projected worldwide Christian population) with having anything to do with the United States. That's the only way your first claims remotely makes sense since the Muslim population, in the United States, is somewhere around 1-2% and largely consists of first generation immigrants.
Though, after reading your second claim, I don't know why I'm bothering to try to figure out where you got any part of your wacky ideas from. I just hope you don't also get the idea that you need to "go crazy" and encourage people in your family to reproduce because of this. After all, the last thing the world needs is more people from your bloodline running around.
8/15/2010 4:19:46 PM
Hey, you know what will stop Sharia law being implemented in the U.S?
The separation of church and state.
See, it really is a good idea.
8/15/2010 4:55:05 PM
And now you see why the US has measures to prevent the tyranny of the majority. Yes, they may piss you off while YOU'RE in the majority when rights like gay marriage are given to people despite the majority of voters being either bigoted or misinformed about the issue (as seen with prop 8) but if your hypothetical scenario ever came to pass it would also protect YOUR freedom to not live under sharia law. You see, protecting the rights of minorities from the whims of the majority is a GOOD thing.
8/15/2010 5:00:06 PM
You haven't read up on Catholic politics have you?
Anyway, education is the best way to liberalize a religion, so be sure to support your local schools. Thanx. Bye.
8/15/2010 5:24:45 PM
Can I get a [CITATION NEEDED] ? Actually, can I get several?
8/15/2010 5:34:06 PM
Have you also noticed that some of them talk kind of funny?
8/15/2010 5:43:26 PM
“I do believe everybody has a right to freedom of religion,” she said. “But Islam is not Christian, and besides, the Muslim people LOOK different - some of them are even BROWN!"
