You must be a powerful telepath (or a witch for an extra dose of irony) because apparently you know EXACTLY what atheists think.
It's not like we see god existing and just deny his existence, no, we LITERALLY do not think that he is there. He simply is not. And careful with the bible quotes. They can apply to you, too!
Fucking dumbass.

Well...y'know...it'd definitely make a believer out of me, if God just spontaneously healed me of a fatal illness. But I suppose that's a bit much to ask of an all-knowing, all-loving, omnipotent being...

Actually, Hitchens has been quite gracious if the face of his diagnosis: you religious folk could even learn something from his example.

Dear mr Mannn,
You're an idiot, and if it were up to me, you would be locked up, to make the world a little safer. Safer without fundamentalists, without retarded ideas.
I can recommend a site for you to read if you have some spare time between the posting of this kind crap. The url is http://www.talkorigins.org

Atheism is less unbelief and more rebellion against God.
Bullshit you lying sack of shit.
How the fuck can you rebel against a fictional fantasy figure? I'll go on a fucking rampage against Betty Boop and Dagbert...

Atheism does not work that way!
I seriously cannot fathom what part of "no belief in deities" these idiots can't seem to wrap their thick skulls around.

Might as well stop reading...
> With nothing to look forward to other than oblivion or hell, he will find a way to blame God.
A free hint: people look forward to whatever afterlife (if any) they're looking forward to. You can't make predictions based on what you think the other person ought to, according to your beliefs, be looking forward to.
You obviously have no idea how happy non-Christians are when they realise there are better, happier thoughts to cling on.

Aw, Viking, that's mean. Paul was alright. I'll rebel against Aslan, smug manipulative feline...oh, wait, it's the same thing. Darn. Tashlan, then. :D
Actually I've just been reading The Screwtape Letters and am angry with C.S.Lewis. If only he hadn't taken care to blame his own inconsistencies on the lying nature of devils, you think, or if he'd have turned the sexism down a little, or not been so convinced of his personal superiority, because it's really clever writing...apparently his straight apologetics are even more tooth-grinding, and he's the best there's been in the field in ages.

MrMannn believes that soon he will supernaturally fly but, naturally enough, atheists don't believe this will happen. Most religious people don't believe this will happen. All sane people don't believe this will happen. So bitter is MrMannn, so dismissive of the views of others is he, so gullible in his drooling acceptance of obvious nonsense is he and so completely brainwashed that he resorts to the fundamental cultist way by attempting to assign a new meaning for the word atheist in order to appease his own chaotic thoughts.

Actually, I have read one of his interviews on the topic of his esophageal cancer, and not once did he blame God for it, not even when the horrid disease took his father.
Atheism, as I understand it, is not an active rebellion against God. Atheists simply don't believe that a god(s)/devine entity exists at all. Not every Atheist is like Madalyn Murrary O'Hair. (*Note to FSTDT - if I have made an erroneous statment(s) about Atheism, feel free to correct.)
To Christopher Hitchens, even though you have stated that the odds aren't good with you diagnosis, I still hope and pray for the best for you.

Kat S: Nope, you're pretty much spot on. The only issue is a nitpick: you shouldn't capitalize the word "atheist" or "atheism", beginning of a sentence notwithstanding.
That said, it's good to have a refreshing reminder that most religious people aren't like the ones quoted here.

WE DON'T WORK THAT WAY!
Yes, you'd think an atheist would think about other things than gods when anticipating death, important things they'll never have another chance to do, although some do slide into brainwashing patterns out of fear and disappointment, but if they blame God actively then...they believe in God. And aren't atheists. It's kind of a definition thing.
I don't merely refuse him my oath based on his terrible personality and my judgment that I have the right to give my devotion only to those who deserve it, I actually don't think he is a thing. He is ridiculous as posited and any less ridiculous reduction has even less to show for itself than the textual absurdities. So...really. I reject your reality.

He'll believe enough in God to blame Him, but not enough to set things right.
So if God wants him to believe in Him, why doesn't He just cure him? If God can cure Hitchens and chooses not to, why shouldn't Hitchens blame God? f you were lying on the sidewalk bleeding and I kicked you and said "get the fuck out of my way" and walked past you without offering to help, wouldn't you blame me?
Yeah, I know, God has a secret plan for him and He's staying the course - just like George Bush.

"Atheism is less unbelief and more rebellion against a prolific Christian culture that is obsessed with forcing a theistic point of view on everyone else and doing so in a less than tasteful manner."
Fixed. And you're a perfect example of why unbelievers also become bitter in their opposition to religious ideology, MrMannn. Your final sentence fits you to a tee.
