Then they're not fucking equal if they're not allowed to do the same things everyone else can do. Also, evidence that homosexuality is a mental illness please as the DSM-IV doesn't classify them as such. Clearly you must have some sort of knowledge that has escaped the world's best psychologists.

The courts (and the Parliamentary system) here in the UK says otherwise. With legally enforced anti-discrimination/homophobia laws. Enjoy your overturned Prop. 8, Roz and your ilk (and it's resulting legal ramifications for other states in the US)

On the other hand, in Kitzmiller versus Dover in 2005, Judge John E. Jones III ruled for the plaintiffs. Because of the 'evidence' for 'Intelligent Design' submitted by Creationist Michael Behe made his case such a laughingstock, he certainly considered it a product of a mentally ill mind.

Judge John E. Jones III is a Conservative Christian. Personally appointed to the Federal bench by George Dumbya Bush, a Conservative Christian who believes in Creationism.

Prop. 8 was overturned recently by Judge Vaughn Walker. Originally nominated by president Ronnie Raygun, and later appointed to the Federal bench by Dumbya's daddy, president George H.W. Bush.

No doubt you voted for Bush I & Dumbya.

Now who's the mentally ill one, Roz? And who has the last laugh, eh?!

The fundie is not mentally ill. The fundie is a fundie. There's a difference.
One is a condition (set of conditions) that affects one's mood (usually) and (more rarely) perception of the world.
The other is a deliberate refusal to acknowledge the reality sitting right in front of you because you're a self-righteous twerp. Not the same.

I think of gays as normal. It's people like you who think anyone whose sexual preferences are different from your own is mentally ill (despite the fact that these preferences don't harm anyone else or keep them from functioning in society as perfectly good and capable human beings) simply because those sexual preferences are different from your own that I have trouble accepting as normal. (However, I would never deny you and your ilk the same rights everyone else has.)

The desire of bigots like you to control the lives of other people and deny gays equal rights that is truly sick and immoral. It is people like you who are deranged and in complete denial of reality. Homosexuality is becoming increasingly accepted as normal. No amount of crying or sticking your fingers in your ears and denying it is going to change reality.

As glad as I am the Proposition 8 has been overturned, we've still got along way to go. I have a relative who is a lawyer in California who tells me that he (along with a good number of lawyers and judges in the Ninth Circuit) regard Judge Vaughn Walker as eccentric and a bit of a loon. It's undoubted that the proponents of Prop. 8 are going to appeal the case. I'm not sure if or how Vaughn Walker's reputation will affect how the judges who hear the appeal will read Vaughn Walker's decision. Whether or not their appeal will be successful depends largely upon which judges are drawn for the panel that hears the appeal. If we draw conservative judges, Judge Vaughn Walker's decision is likely to be overturned. Even if it's not, there's a good chance that the case will end up before the Supreme Court. Given the justices on the current Supreme Court, I'm not certain that the case against Prop. 8 will fair all that well there -- although I could be wrong about that and certainly hope I am.

I'm not saying I wasn't pleased to hear about Vaughn Walker's decision on Prop. 8 or that that we shouldn't be allowed any amount of joy or celebration over this initial victory. I'm just saying that a lot remains uncertain and Vaughn Walker's decision could be overturned. And if it is, people like Roz here will be certain to gloat about it nonstop. Given that Vaughn Walker's decision might be overturned, I wouldn't brag too much about his decision on Prop. 8 at this point.
