Quote# 7552

[Responding to "You mean to say that non-Christians aren't American?"]They AREN'T. This country was founded on Christianity and Christian morals. When they even THINK about removing 'under God' from the Pledge they are anti-American. And Massachusetts should be booted from the Union for its unholy crimes.

George Washington was a deist. And what do you mean by unholy crimes? Being the home of Crossing Jordan?

Wonder what they all did before 1954 when \"under god\" was put into the pledge.

2/16/2007 1:28:27 AM

The pledge of allegiance didn't even exist when the U.S. was founded. It appeared in a children's magazine in 1892, without the words 'under god'.

The United States was NOT founded on christianity. Many of the founding fathers were unitarians, and people such as Jefferson, Washington, Adams, and Franklin had no love for the church.

Oh, by the way, I completely forgot to add...

Great I get to do it.

Are these the same christian morals that killed Native Americans and stole their land. Then enslaved Africans.

2/16/2007 9:47:51 AM

As I'm a Brit, could any Americans on this board enlighten me as to what \"unholy crimes\" Massachusetts is supposed to have committed?

2/16/2007 9:55:53 AM

I'm not sure, Heather, maybe they mean the Kennedys???

2/16/2007 2:30:16 PM

Doctor Whom

Tell that to the other fundies who bitch about that nasty heathen, Thomas Paine.

I guess that the \"unholy crimes\" of Massachusetts include giving gays the special privilege of equality (and showing that gay marriage won't immediately bring about the end of civilization as we know it).

TB Tabby

We got a \"Treaty of Tripoli Bitch!\" but not the image that normally goes with it. It should be in the gallery.

EDIT: And here it is!

Massachusetts is one of the few pegs left holding this country together from becoming Iran II.

I always thought being American was a matter of wanting the best for your nation, to protect peace and defend the defenseless and everything that's on that thing by the Statue of Liberty.

1/17/2008 8:36:19 PM

If the fundies ever get control of the country, I hope to every god out there that they do boot Massachusetts from the union.

At least my homeland will be free.

Wonder what kind of scores he got on his he got on his history tests? I can just imagine it:

Q:What famous writer influenced Thomas Jefferson when he was writing the Declaration of Independence?
A: "God and the Holy Bible"
Teacher's note: You fail, fundie.

@ Heather: I think he's talking about Massachutsetts being one of the most liberal states in the US

1/17/2008 10:56:39 PM

Your founding fathers were mostly deist, they definitely didn't found the US as a Christian nation.

Is there a grade lower than F?

@Quantum Mechanic
"Is there a grade lower than F?"

T for Troll?

You mean the unholy crime of allowing consenting adults to arrange their personal affairs in the manner they see fit which causes you no damage whatsoever?

4/25/2012 11:35:49 AM

I'm from Massachusetts (where the Revolutionary War began BTW). We give a LOT more revenue in taxes than we receive in federal aid of any kind. I'd be perfectly happy if we seceded. The rest of the country is holding us back. We'll keep Harvard, MIT, BU, gay marriage, and the healthcare mandate. You can have NASCAR and Jeebus.

4/25/2012 12:19:53 PM

If it wasn't for Massachusetts, the US wouldn't have had a start to the Revolutionary War.

In fact, New England has consistently been at the forefront of social/economic progress in US history. Gay marriage, sustainable development, and green energy are just the latest examples of this.

Oh yeah, and the Patriots rock!

Someone else who never read the Treaty of Tripoli.
