By that standard, Christianity is not the majority religion in the US, most "Christians" being quite accepting of the existence of other religions and religious practices.

Unless I am mistaken (in which case I'd appreciate it if someone would kindly correct me), neither Dubya nor his father did that, and your messiah Reagan didn't, either. So, why do you think Obama should?
8/29/2010 7:05:52 AM
Obama seems like a pretty smart guy, smart enough to realize that people can have their own religion and he can be a good Christian without being a dick toward other beliefs.
Even if he was a Muslim, or just not a Christian, so what? It would be a deviation from the norm but he would still legally be the president.
8/29/2010 7:24:39 AM
Probably because it would be illegal for him to do so, "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion" and all that. Very first rule in the document you claim to love so much is that the government can't favor one religion over another.
8/29/2010 7:28:35 AM
Many people are content to be a Christian and have no desire to become a fundamental cultist as well. It stands to reason, if you are a Christian, why would you want to embrace the evils of the deranged criminals who have no fellow feeling for humankind?
Gangs of crazed villains that constantly trumpet the necessity of stupidity as the means for getting closer to the genocidal maniac that they worship. Ignominious dunderheads that holler enthusiastically whenever heinous deeds are plotted and enacted against their fellows.
No. I don't think so.
8/29/2010 7:33:35 AM
why didn't George W. Bush do that, either? He must be a tool of satan!
8/29/2010 7:35:50 AM
Jezebel's Evil Sister
President George W. Bush was no Christian then:
"America treasures the relationship we have with our many Muslim friends, and we respect the vibrant faith of Islam which inspires countless individuals to lead lives of honesty, integrity, and morality. This year, may Eid also be a time in which we recognize the values of progress, pluralism, and acceptance that bind us together as a Nation and a global community. By working together to advance mutual understanding, we point the way to a brighter future for all."
— Presidential Message Eid al-Fitr
December 5, 2002
Lots of other "tool of satan" Bush quotes here:

I read about the afterlife
Because that'd be offensive to Muslims and we here in America should be doing our best to accomodate all religions as much as possible. But of course, you insist upon not reading our constitution -- so you wouldn't know.
8/29/2010 8:05:35 AM
One reason and one reason only why Obama won't publicly acknowledge what you want him to acknowledge.
*source* The first amendment of the U.S. Constitution
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
8/29/2010 8:14:45 AM
Ha! That's sentence!
8/29/2010 8:16:02 AM
Because the President is the chief representative of the American people in the world, and it's his job to keep the world at peace so dumb fucks like you can slander his name in peace.
8/29/2010 8:17:20 AM
BECAUSE THIS ISN'T A THEOCRACY, YOU FUCKING MORON.
8/29/2010 8:31:15 AM
Teh tolerance! It burns!!
8/29/2010 8:45:16 AM
Could it be that Obama... values the separation of church and state? And maybe... this isn't a theocracy so your standards for his faith are totally irrelevant?
8/29/2010 9:11:38 AM
"you shall have no other gods before me."
I think Jezus needs to shut up with his "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no man comes to God but by Me" ... no wonder the pharisees wanted him crucified, interposing himself between the people and the one and only god, cheeky bastard that Jezus.
8/29/2010 9:26:15 AM
I believe it isn't a function of the president of the US to comment of the truth or falsity of ny religion. Would it not be unconstitutional for him to do so? Nor is there any religious test required of him to prove he is a member of any, or no religion.
I am so weary of the stupidity of fundies, and the malicious stirring up on TV (Faux), by people cleverer than they seem or pretend to be, of the stupid, mindless 'believers'.
8/29/2010 9:55:25 AM
If [President Obama] is a Christian
So attending church and claiming to be a christian isn't good enough? Now you require loyalty tests to accept someone as a fellow christian? or is this an exception for someone who's political affliation you don't like?
why doesn’t he publicly acknowledge that Islam is a false religion?
1) Such a pronouncement would not placate partisan fundies like you anyway.
2)Such a pronouncement would only serve to jepordize the lives of hundreds of thousands of US soldiers currently stationed in the middle east.
3) It is not the place of the president to declare what religions are true or false. He is the president of america, a country who's citizenry includes muslims, christians, taoists, jews, etc.
4) Such a pronouncement would be a flagrant violation of the 1st Ammendment.
Jesus Christ said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no man comes to God but by Me.” If this is true and Mr. President believes it, why does he deny it by his actions and words?
Do you believe President Obama is responsible to you, or to the god you both claim to believe in?
According to the Apostle John, Mr. President denies it because he is “a liar and the truth is not in him.”
So is it for the people at Free Republic that judge what someone does or does not truly believe? Does anyone who claims to be a christian have to publically prove themselves to Free Republic before they can call themselves a christian?
You cannot be a Christian and believe that there is any other way to get to God! That’s Bible!
As a christian you should believe that is for your god to judge, not you. But it seems you have appointed yourself as judge instead.
8/29/2010 9:56:42 AM
For the same reason no politicans will acknowledge that all religions are false, it would alienate many believing voters.
8/29/2010 10:01:48 AM
Then Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II were not Christians. That's reality!
8/29/2010 10:02:17 AM
Because that'd be a fucking jackass thing to do, you dolt.
8/29/2010 10:15:34 AM
"You cannot be a Christian and believe that there is any other way to get to God!"
And why would he be trying to get to God anyway?
8/29/2010 10:22:07 AM
Can you prove it to be a false religion? Jesus saying it won't help. Why? It uses circular logic which is what the unthinking use. Can you disprove any of my gods? Also your Bible is chock full of holes and contradictions and in many cases, it shows why a person may not be a Christian
8/29/2010 10:23:22 AM
Because he wants votes?
8/29/2010 10:25:55 AM
"Oh noes! The current president isn't a crazy fundamentalist like the previous one!"
8/29/2010 10:26:55 AM
Angry racist loses his shit over Obama, take 1,743,592,101.
