Quote# 75637

Richard Dawkins is a moron. God exists and religion has been proven to make life better. For instance, people who have some sort of religious belief live longer then those whom have none. We also are more likely to recycle then non-believers because God told us to care for the earth.

I'd be willing to bet 50 bucks that Bob the Angry Spaceman is a troll trying to get atheists to agree with a post that's full of poor grammar, poor spelling, and has fundamentally hateful content so that he can go and prove that either atheists are bigots and atheists.

Seriously? Who starts a sentence (sentence being used in the loosest possible way) with "lol" and end it talking about concentration camps? Newsflash, Bob, most atheists (and most commenters at FSTDT -- not all of us happen to be atheists) don't think that concentration camps are anything less than despicable. If you're a troll you aren't a very good one. If you're not a troll, then I wish you would stop giving the rest of us a bad name -- here's some advice: get a book, learn how to type, go to school, and get yourself a moral compass.

i went to school angua and did very well who uses proper spelling ect on the internet anyway
and i never said concentration camps something more like the science or space camp i went to a few times as a kid i learned so much there why did your mind jump right to concentration camps ?

My mind jumped to concentration camps, Bob, because you said asked if there was "a way we could just get rid of them." I took it as you wanted to get rid of Christians* permanently, not just for a couple of weeks. Also, you typically don't send adults to summer camp. I had hoped you'd realized that there are plenty of Christians who also happened to be adults.

As for who uses proper spelling on the internet? I usually try to, at least. (I know that typos and errors sometimes creep in. I know full well I'm not perfect.) Most of the commenters on this site seem to use a lot better spelling and grammar than you do.

*And you did say Christians. Not Fundies, not Fudamentalists, not Fundamentalists Christians, but just plain Christians. Really? You think that there aren't any Christians out there that aren't intelligent? You think that there aren't any Christians out there who actually know something about science? What do you make of the Christians who also happen to be prominent scientists then, i wonder?

but couldnt camps like that help getting rid of ignorance and prejudice from the world it was ones like them that helped me get interested in science and why could it not work for adults too
and christian scientists are fooling themsleves surely with what they know they can see the bible and what is in it is just a fairy tale

Bob, I am not aware of any science camps run for adults. If you want to start one, go ahead, that would be great. However, these camps happen to take money to run. Most adults are not going to spend money and take time away from the jobs they have in order to go to a summer camp. It's a nice idea, but seeing as if any of these sort of camps do exist they are incredibly rare, I honestly don't know why you'd expect anyone to naturally pick up that when you spoke of getting rid of people by sending them to camps, you meant summer camps for adults to learn science.

I'll agree that actual prominent scientists who happen to be Christians don't take the Bible as literally true. They'll say that it's "spiritually true" or that a lot of it is allegorical. Maybe they are "fooling themselves" on some level. But I have no reason to doubt either their intelligence or the sincerity of their faith.

"More likely to recycle"? Really?

"We also are more likely to recycle then non-believers because God told us to care for the earth."

You are an environmental wacko and terefore a communist. God says so. Or at least Rush says so, and that's the same as god saying it.

David B.

Several thousand years of religion reduced the infant mortality rate from 1-in-4 to 1-in-4.

A century of science reduced it to about 1-in-200.

Science saves lives, and it has almost certainly saved yours, jamisings.

Ignorance. It's bliss. I'm sure billionaires' children live longer than secret agents on average, but it doesn't make them necessarily more useful to society or capable.

Still, I'm not going to dissuade from finally recycling, so I'll just take the one-stroke penalty I guess.

camps or somthing ?

Like...send Christians to re-education camps?

Hah hah, no. Wrong answer.

You don't answer stupidity with stupidity. Plenty of smart people who are Christian. You correct people's misconceptions until something fucking sinks in. That's what you do.
