Quote# 75652

Liberalism, like atheism, is a passing phenomenon. (As someone once put it, it's the transient moment between exhaling Christianity and inhaling something else.) The immediate future lies with the smart, aggressive and ruthless. As for the meek ...

So atheists can quotemine too!

If you're going to spend your precious time commenting on quotations, you should take the trouble to read them (& subsequent comments by the same poster) in the context of the original thread.

For the record, I do NOT advocate any kind of "rule of the ruthless". My point was that such Social Darwinism would increasingly come to the fore as liberalism decays. It might take the form of tribal anarchy or totalitarian technocracy ... but it will come.

This is why traditionalists hate and fear liberalism. Apart from its own intrinsically evil qualities, it unleashes atavistic forces which it cannot check.

"Quarry the granite rock with razors, or moor the vessel with a thread of silk; then may you hope with such keen and delicate instruments as human knowledge and human reason to contend against those giants, the passion and the pride of man." - John Henry Newman

One can see a parallel development with atheism, which is clearly in the process of mutating into varieties of neopaganism.

"Man is born to believe. And if no church comes forward with its
title-deeds of truth, sustained by the tradition of sacred ages and by the conviction of countless generations to guide him, he will find altars and idols in his own heart and his own imagination." - Benjamin Disraeli

"Liberalism, like atheism, is a passing phenomenon"

To my knowledge, Amun-Ra worship lasted longer than Christianity - and that passed.

Hinduism started way before Christianity.

Jesus was a Liberal.

Enjoy your paradox, fundies.

With his beliefs, and what he's said, speaking of Nihilism, this is where Piltdown Man & his ilk are currently...:

Amun-Ra worship lasted longer than Christianity has lasted to date. If the Big Guy in the Sky decided to lower the boom on the universe tomorrow, Amun-Ra worship would have lasted longer than Christianity.

How is this relevant to anything?

"Hinduism started way before Christianity."

Yes. And?

"Jesus was a Liberal. "

No, He was a king. A merciful king indeed, but a king nonetheless and fully aware of His royal prerogatives.

For Christianity, it worked for more than 1500 years. And in the animal world, it works too.

"Liberalism, like atheism, is a passing phenomenon."

Your lot has been saying that about evolution for over 150 years.

Liberalism became a coherent political ideology around the time of the works of John Locke (1632-1704). In other words a very long time. It was the first political ideology (meaning a coherent body of ideas that inspire political action).
So I don't think it is going to pass anytime soon in all honesty. if anything it is resurgent (at least Classical Liberalism and its more modern spawn neo-liberalism in the 1980s).
Try facts.

You are cleary a nutter. You've proven yourself to be stupider than I thought. Seriously, when did you aquire the ability to see into the future?
"One can see a parallel development with atheism, which is clearly in the process of mutating into varieties of neopaganism"
Please tell me you're a poe. There's just no other way anyone could think Atheism(lack of religious belief) could mutate into neopaganism. Really, just because someone says something will happen(like the guy you quoted) doesn't mean it will. Also, explain some of the evils of liberalism while you're at it.

Liberalism is a passing phenomenon...when's the communist revolution, comrade? Soon we can dump bourgoeis ideology on the scrapheap of history! XD

EVERYTHING is a passing phenomenon, stupid. Humanity is a passing phenomenon, for crying out loud. Sometime in the future, we will become extinct, obsolete, and something different will rule the Earth. As that would probably not be in my lifetime, it's no business of mine.

I'm hoping for the monarchist counter-revolution.

Sure, but liberalism is a rapidly passing phenomenon and you will probably live to see its demise.

Christianity is all of those things expect smart. While there are many smart Christians the religion itself isn't smart. Christianity is STILL the major religion in the USA and therefore the minority which is atheist/agnostic are the meek.
