Quote# 75655

What's the name for a self-centered, uncharitable person who censors classroom prayer? An atheist. That's why atheists do not build hospitals, and they don't win sports championships like the World Cup either.

Doubting Thomas

No, they set up charitable organizations like the Bill & Melissa Gates Foundation.

And before you go on about how Christians all build hospitals, you do know they're all run as for-profit enterprises, don't you? There's not one I've seen that gives all their services for free out of the kindness of their hearts because they're Christians.

@Tempus, I do believe you've nailed it. Thank Buddha I don't live in Schlaflyworld, or I might be tempted to set myself on fire just to escape.

Allegory for Jesus

The World Cup is serious business. Even more so than teachers not being allowed to force kids to say prayers. Won't somebody think of the poor innocent children not being instructed to do prayers!? The atheists may be getting there evil, nefarious way there, but so long as an atheist team doesn't win the World cup, everything will be A-okay.

Evilution Teacher

@ Mudak - Lance Armstrong? I'm sure a fundy argument is that cycling is gay (look at the spandex!) and the Tour de France takes place in . . . France (those liberal frogs!); therefore Lance's wins don't count as sports championships. His atheism is also why he got cancer. God was striking him down.

How I can't stand these people. I've read so much of their stupid crap I can anticipate their reaction to counter arguments.

I do like how all of a sudden this year my country cares about the World Cup. Half my (homebody Catholic) extended family spent half of our family reunion watching Ghana & Uganda. What happened?

So, how many championships has Andy won, and how many hospitals has he built?

Is it self-centered to think that all people have the right to free/affordable adequate medical attention when they are sick? What about thinking instead that everyone only gets the medical attention he or she can afford?
Which is the least self-centered one? The most charitable one?

Mister Spak

What's the name of a person who rewrites the bible because it's politically incorrect?

Andy Schlafly.

The Jamo

Geez, how about just NOT being an asshole. Does that count, Andy?

8/30/2010 4:42:07 AM

I don't know if the whole 22 Spanish players are devout Christians, if that is relevant to Christianity, soccer or......whatever in general.

"What's the name for a self-centered, uncharitable person who censors classroom prayer?"

A strict constructionist?

Well we would have, except the organisers were so scared of our sporting prowess they refused to let us compete on the piddling technicality that atheism isn't a fucking country you moron!

Actually, I think it's a disestablishmentarian. Which makes Andy an antidisestablishmentarian, and hence his reality disconnected views are antidisestablishmentarianism.

So if anyone ever wants to know what that word means, point 'em towards Conservapedia and stand back so as not to get any of the stupid on you.

christian leftie

Christ is credited as saying "Do to others as you would have them do to you" (or words to that effect).

I want to be free not to be forced to say prayers I might not agree with, thus by the teachings of Christ I must ensure others are not.

Thus, by the arguments of Schafly, Christians who follow the teachings of Christ are Atheists.

at least atheists pay taxes.

I'd love to write a nice comment for you guys but I'm actually headed down to my volunteer position with a local drug awareness charity, getting young kids off the streets late at night and providing them with referrals for crisis accommodation/counseling/rehab, options for them to get home safely, proper information about drugs, alcohol and sex, a friendly shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen to them...

Ok I just remembered I'm an atheist....looks like I'll have to cancel those plans. Anybody up to help me desecrate the local church tonight? maybe skin a few puppies?

Uncharitable? This from the guy who's rewriting the Bible to take out all the stuff that advocates being nice to people?

9/2/2012 7:18:35 AM

ohm sorry , Andy again , nevermind

9/2/2012 9:26:54 AM

Andy, you are the first known exception to the stopped clock rule. Literally every single word you utter is either completely wrong or an utter lie or, in this case, both.

...and they don't win sports championships like the World Cup either.
Non-sequitor? I mean, what does (not) winning a sports championship have to do with being a self-centered uncharitable person?

rubber chicken

The World Cup ?

I think Andy heard that sometimes you can score from a cross and got confused.
