Quote# 75689

Question to athiests, why are you so against there being a God? and being a atheist(not beliving in a God) kinda proves that there is one because you cant have a anti nothing. Such as there are anti rock people because there is rock music, but there are no anti (lets say) holograph people because there is none.

I don't belive in fairies & unicorns - but by the logic here they must exist because you can't have an anti nothing.

Percy Q. Shunn

The stupid burns deep with this one.

'Anti-Rock' people are typically the ones who make these kind of idiotic statements.

This kid's logic fails hard because anti-rock people question the morality of rock music, not whether it exists or not.

London Jew

Dude, you got us with your totally original argument.

8/30/2010 4:37:19 AM

I'm against Halo4man being an idiot. That kinda proves that Halo4man is an idiot cause he has to be for me to be against it.

8/30/2010 4:47:59 AM

This is why they're called 'atheists', not 'anti-theists'. The clue is in the name.

8/30/2010 4:48:22 AM

You need to read up on the meaning of atheism, dear Halo4man. We're not against there being gods, we just don't find any evidence for them.

Where in the word "atheist" do you find the word "anti"? Sure, the prefixes a- and anti- are vaguely related, but they are not synonyms.

If we are to adhere to your "logic", Allah and Freya also exist, because I don't believe in them either.

8/30/2010 4:52:47 AM

Well, why are you anti-Flying Spaghetti Monster? Answer that Mr. Smart Guy.

Do people honestly believe this "logical" argument?

8/30/2010 4:54:29 AM

If god poped up and provided evidence of his existence, then I'd happily believe in him. I decline to grace the rest of your stupidity with a response.

8/30/2010 4:55:56 AM

I'm amazed that this person doesn't realise that "holographs" exist, in both of the two definitions of the word.

Definition 1) - "a hologram". Holograms exist. This person may well have some on their passport, bank cards, or money, as well as as security marks on other objects.

Definition 2 - "a document written entirely in the handwriting of the person whose signature it bears." I'm pretty damn sure those exist. I could create one pretty easily myself.

TB Tabby

Two words: no evidence.

And while there is no god according to the lack of evidence, there ARE people claiming there is despite a lack of evidence. The burden of proof is on you.

Mister Spak

Question to theists, why are you so for there being a giant man with a long white beard who lives on clouds?

8/30/2010 5:11:28 AM

Arctic Knight

I am anti rock people. I don't want those rock people taking over the world and enslaving us organic people as they do their evil rock people things.

8/30/2010 5:26:50 AM

o_O Do people really believe this kind of "reasoning" makes some kind of sense?

8/30/2010 5:42:44 AM

Not only do I not believe in God, neither do I believe in there being twenty hot naked supermodel women in my room just waiting for me.

Tolpuddle Martyr

Philosophically speaking, I think Han shot Greedo first. As I can't be anti nothing, that is something that does not exist, this means Han and Greedo are real people! Right?

8/30/2010 5:58:32 AM

@Arctic Knight

I, for one, welcome our new mineral overlords.

8/30/2010 6:01:14 AM

I'm not against it, I just can't find good evidence for it.

8/30/2010 6:01:19 AM

You've been taking lessons in "logic" from Assfly haven't you?

8/30/2010 6:12:06 AM

Doubting Thomas

I'm not against there being a god, I just don't think there is.

And I'm not really anti-God, again, I just don't believe there is one. That doesn't make him real, though. If that logic were valid, then there definitely is a Bigfoot, a Loch Ness Monster, UFO's, invisible pink unicorn, dragon in my back yard, smart fundies, and anything else I could possibly imagine that people won't believe in.

8/30/2010 6:23:14 AM

ACTUALLY, God isn't the factor in what makes most people atheists. It's religion. If there was no such thing as religion, nobody would call themselves an atheist, because we'd ALL be atheists.

8/30/2010 6:25:36 AM

You do realize that the only people who label atheists as "anti-god" are non-atheists, right? So what you did there is find a hole in the logic of your fellow theists. It would be like if I heard an atheist say that Christians claim that they can sprout wings and fly and then I called all Christians liars because it's impossible for Humans to do that.

Regardless, I'm not against your god. What I am is someone who simply does not believe in your god. I'm not even against the idea of there possibly being a high power. I just believe that there is no evidence of one existing and I think that the idea of a higher power creates more questions than it answers. So, in short, I'm going with the simpler answer unless proven wrong. Of course, I am very much anti-bullshit. Which means I'm against much of the nonsense that religion and religious followers spout. But religion, and people who follow religion, do exist... last I checked.

Quantum Mechanic

I don't believe in Thor, either, dipshit.

8/30/2010 6:50:01 AM

The way he writes just gives away the stupid.

8/30/2010 7:15:19 AM

"Question to athiests, why are you so against there being a God?"

For the same reason I don't believe in leprechauns and the Easter Bunny.

"and being a atheist(not beliving in a God) kinda proves that there is one because you cant have a anti nothing."

Thanks for clarifying "atheist" for me. I had no fucking clue what that was until you let me in on the big secret.

The rest of your prattle is rather stupid, however. Is there also a teapot orbiting between Earth and Mars? Maybe I have a few billion dollars waiting for me in my bank account. You know, it has to be there since I don't actually believe that it is. Or something.

How about you just don't use this argument again. It gives me a migraine every time I see one of you morons use it.

"Such as there are anti rock people because there is rock music, but there are no anti (lets say) holograph people because there is none."

What in the fuck are you babbling about?

And I'm "anti" god, and can be so, because the fucking concept exists you jackass. If something can be conceived of, irregardless of whether or not it actually exists, I and anyone else can be against it. Why is that so hard to understand?
