Quote# 75711

I am a political atheist. I don't trade my critical thinking skills to tow the party line, left or right. I think for myself. What a novel concept.

So liberal freaks, if you can support a Muslim Mosque in the WTC area, why not a satanic temple? Where do you draw the line? Or do you bother? Someone asked if I know any satanists. I know tons of them, however they do not all know whom they are really serving. Satan's greatest accomplishment is convincing the world he does not exist.

And can we mutilate American little girls and cut off their genitals in the name of Islam? The Christians and Jews circumcise little boys, so why not? If you are all for freedom of worship, how and where do you draw that line?

I would be OK with a Satanic temple, but, unlike you maniacs, I actually agree with and support the US Constitution. BTW, how do you make the jump from religious freedom to genital mutilation?

Actually, I'm very much against the involuntary circumcision of boys, too.

And, yeah. People of other faiths are unsuspecting Satanists, just like atheists are unsuspecting Christians. What?

What, exactly, is a political atheist? You clearly believe in god, otherwise you wouldn't say anything as ridiculous as "Satan's greatest accomplishment is convincing the world he does not exist." Just like god, satan doesn't exist.

Actually, assuming they could raise the money, I guess I would have to support a satanic temple.

As for female circumcision, it's my understanding that's a cultural thing and not a religious thing. I would oppose it in any event. I also oppose male circumcision for religious purposes.

You might not "tow" any party lines, but you are certainly toeing the line of religious bigotry. The Constitution says you cannot draw a line - any line - in cases such as this.

I would be allright with a Satanic temple. Why? First amendment plus I have read LaVey's books. I may not totally agree with them but they would do no harm. I draw it when people are hurt or killed. Also the Satanists you "know" are probably not Satanists but Pagans, Jews, atheists, agnostics and Muslims. You may want to reword Satanic since using that, it doesn't portray Satan how you think. And most Satanists are atheistic hedonists

I wouldn't have a problem with a satanic temple at all. Why would I?

If you assume that all liberals are freaks, you are too effing stupid to even know what atheism is. I'm in agreement with the U.S. Constitution and think that anyone of any faith, including Satanists, can build a church anywhere they can afford the property. Then I ignore them, regardless of which particular myth the believe in, because all of the Abrahamaic religions are equally full of shit.

BTW. Have you all heard the braying jackasses claiming we "wouldn't let the Japanese build near Pearl Harbor"? I took a look at the Honolulu Yellow Pages and there are 27, predominantly Japanese, Buddhist temples in Honolulu.

I draw the line when people start infringing on the liberty of other people.

That isn't happening here, well, not on the side of the people building the community center.

Female circumcision is not an Islamic practice...

And, I have no problem with a Satanic temple...

I'd have no problem with a Satanic Temple. In fact, I would enjoy seeing it put up just to see your rage.

@ pete - I think the difference might be that America sees itself as having won that war, so it's ok to let the culture thrive in the states. Also there wasn't a religious motivation for bombing Pearl Harbor - it was just an act of war, so that also makes a big difference.

PS I don't care about Satanic temples, but IMhO the mosque builders could have toned down the million story tall "cultural center" for the sake of being sensitive too. Maybe just a small building, so everyone has to be politically correct?

"someone asked if I know any satanists. I know tons of them, hoever they do not all know them they are really serving."

Ah yes, fundie xianity in a nutshell. Not only do you know everything, but everybody else is clueless, hell, they dont even know themselves. But no problem, self absorbed xian fanatic proclaims his perfect knowledge in everything and is off the the rescue, whether you want it or not.

If you do not understand the difference between an un-needed procedure that generally does not interfere with sexual pleasure and procedure that often causes painful intercourse and drastically increased risk of death in childbirth, you are a moron. Yes, I think male circumcision is unnecessary and should stop, but anyone who compares it to female genital mutilation automatically uses the argument.

I am a godless liberal and I don't want any stupid Muslim Mosque any where. But you know what? IT DOESN'T MATTER what I want! It's not my property.

You must be an anti-American commie pinko.

I am a political atheist.

Atheist doesn't mean what you think it does. Satan is just another fantasy figure to atheists, you are clearly not one.

You don't trade your "critical thinking skills" because they're not worth the toss of a tubercular tamarind.

if you can support a Muslim Mosque in the WTC area, why not a satanic temple?

Okay, this person is lying about being an atheist since he believes in Satan. NEXT!

"I am a political atheist. I don't trade my critical thinking skills to tow the party line, left or right. I think for myself. What a novel concept."

My BS sensor just detected a large pile of manure.

I do not see your point. If the relevant board approves it, i don't care. It's their land and i don't give a fuck what they do with it.

"And can we mutilate American little girls and cut off their genitals in the name of Islam? The Christians and Jews circumcise little boys, so why not? If you are all for freedom of worship, how and where do you draw that line?"

If the party who's genitalia is getting fucked up approves, i don't give a fuck. However, if it's an involuntary thing then it's another story.

By calling people who support the freedom of religion "Liberal Freaks", you have shown you are not a "political atheist",but yet another right wing nut job.

I'm against male circumcision. It's no longer needed, not with the advent of plentiful soap and water.

Female genital mutilation is a barbaric practice, it's intent to make sex unpleasant, in an ass backwards idea that if it was unpleasant women would be faithful and less apt to stray, and has NOTHING to do with any religion.

The point is that Newt Gingrich, among others, has gone out on a limb to say that "we would never allow a Japanese temple near Pearl Harbor". The fact is that Hawaii, Honolulu in particular, has a huge Japanese population who have their own temples.

Aside from the fact that here's no legal justification for denying any group the right to build a house of worship, he's too effing stupid to even bother learning that there are Japanese temples all over Hawaii.
