the only way you can say you were born gay is if you connect that with the fact that we are born sinners. It isnt a genetics problem, Its a sin problem. A spirit comes with this particular sin and its not something you just cant control. I too was in this lifestyle for many years and now that I have turned back to the Lord I am done with it. Its not just some daily sacrifice and its not a battle to stay straight! It is NO LONGER AN ISSUE!! Praise the Lord!

Who wants to bet this fool still screws men on the side? He likely infected his wife and future children with STDs since fundies just don't do protection. People like this don't want to protect marriage, they want to protect their image so they can get away with whatever it is they want to do right this second.
There's no such thing as sin. And I really hate this "born sinners" idea, as if a newborn baby has any knowledge whatsoever of right and wrong. And the idea that we're all born sinners because of Adam & Eve is just ludicrous, because blaming all of humanity for what the supposed first two humans supposedly did is just stupid and unfair. Genesis is a fairy tale, anyway.
"It isnt a genetics problem, Its a sin problem."
Its actually NOT a problem at all.
"I too was in this lifestyle for many years and now that I have turned back to the Lord I am done with it"
If you want to crawl back into the closet to "praise the Lord" go right ahead. Just don't drag the rest of us in there with you Mr Joy.
"It is NO LONGER AN ISSUE!!"
OKAY.IF YOU SAY SO!!1111!
Joy is one of two things.
1. She is still gay and really deep in the closet
2. She was never gay to start with.
Somebody told you you were born with evil on your soul because of something someone else did, and you believed them?
Even when I was religious that didn't wash with me.
I feel bad for this person. If they're happy the way they are now, I don't really mind (except the whole trying to spoil it for everyone else thing), but I suspect sexuality is a bit like handedness. I'm right handed, and if that were somehow looked down upon, as left-handedness has been in the past, then I could perhaps train myself to be ambidextrous, or left handed entirely. But why should I have to? Why should I have to go through all that struggle and unlearning just because of the whim of a broken society?
"Sigh" Like John_in_Oz said: Whatever lifts your luggage.
Also: "It is NO LONGER AN ISSUE!!" My, why the screaming? One has to wonder...
I love how fundies talk about "the gay lifestyle" as if there is one such lifestyle.
I'm afraid that, if they looked into my lifestyle, they would be pretty bored and disappointed.
Typical fundie mindset: She can't keep herself from committing acts she regards a sinful without having some iron hand of authority preventing her from doing those things, so she thinks everybody else needs that, too.

Yeah, and actually, these two things (sexuality vs. handedness) are more alike than you think, because trying to use a hand different from your actual one all the time can really mess you up. There was this guy in the royal family (Prince... Something. I don't remember) who was left-handed, and he was forced to use his right hand in everything, and it really messed him up. I think he had like speech problems and stuff (I don't remember the details). But when he was allowed to use his right hand he was fine. Too bad the consequences of repressing your sexuality can be more long-lasting than that.
the fact that we are born sinners
I want to address this piece of nonsense particularly (not that it's the only thing wrong with this post; far from it). How can you justify worshiping a god who makes newborn babies come into the world already in debt and already marked as deserving of eternal damnation before they can even draw their first breath? What a fucked up system this god runs where he can declare completely innocent people as guilty despite them not making a single choice or taking a single action yet. The options of a god who does that are irrelevant to any discussion of morality.
It's a crutch by any other name, you like guys sexually, you're denying your preference for your God and his promise of happiness. You're a train wreck coming, a suicide countdown or at the very least a misreable, depressed self-hating excuse for a man,
Like Ted Haggard who just might be your hero
Born sinners? No.
Born stupid? All too often, yes.
And when neither man nor woman will play with my private bits, there's always the Lord. Like a blow-up doll, only cheaper.
Am amused that a person with the first name 'Joy' received a majority of rude responses targeted at a man. Presumably out of habit. This is a woman's name. My childhood best friend's cool white-haired grandmother, who used to lend me her books, was named Joy.
I'd resent this person sharing it, except that the last name is so hifalutin' and Frenchy perhaps she's lying. In which case it could be just a female handle, but then the person is presumably totally making stuff up, including the ex-gay bullshit.
Hey, Joy. Long before I knew what the words "gay" and "bisexual" mean, back when I was a sheltered 4-year-old, I remember loving to look at the pretty ladies in old Bugs Bunny cartoons (see also: "Swing Shift Cinderella"). I knew even then that I wanted to marry a dude, but other women already fascinated me, with no help from the Gay Agenda.
I call bullshit on your "it's not a battle" thing. You're either celibate, or you're one of those lucky bisexuals who leans more toward the straight end and is able to suppress any homosexual urges.
"It is NO LONGER AN ISSUE!! Praise the Lord!"
Just keep SHOUTING that into your mirror. Maybe, just maybe, someday when you're old and completely senile, you will convince yourself.
You sure don't convince us.
Wait, if sexual attraction is an instinct, that is, something you can't control, how can it be sin, which requires free will?
So Joy, where did you get your doctorate in Physics from? Just curious, since you seem to know more about the issue than they do.
Oh, I seriously doubt you are no longer gay. You might think you are, but I suspect you still look at girls a little longer than you're comfortable with.
The surveys of LGBT people did find a lot of bisexual people, too. I imagine that bisexuals could follow their attraction to one sex for one part of their lives, then they could follow their attraction to the other sex for another part of their lives.
Just saying...
Confused?
