(about fast food and strip clubs near Ground Zero)
Those are staples of America you stupid fucking liberal anti-American piece of shit. A mosque is not although you liberals are trying to make it that way. Go live over there since you like their way of life. I hope you die in the next attacks. What a piece of shit!

The freedom to choose any religion to worship (including none at all) isn't an American staple, but cheap, unhealthy food and paying to objectify women is.

*sigh*

Wehpudicabok

So hedonism is an American value, but tolerance isn't. Gotcha. (And judging by your manner of speech, ignorant, profanity-laden insults are a "staple of America" as well.)

LM

Ah yes, how dare we forget the Titties and Lard clauses of the Bill of Rights?

9/2/2010 11:19:14 PM

Go live over there since you like their way of life.

I wonder if Cash realises that with his shrill, nationalist whinings and intolerant attitude (sadly echoed by many) it is he, not the "stupid fucking liberal anti-American" that is expressing an attitude similar to the oppressors in Sharia ruled countries.

Those are staples of America you stupid fucking liberal anti-American piece of shit.

Ah yes strip clubs and fast food is as American as apple pie, meaning they aren't only "Made in America" at all.

While the big fast food chains are American, fast food has existed for a long time. Some evidence that ancient Rome had some restaurants like it for example.

As far as strip clubs, I'm sure as long as money has existed (or even bartering) I'm sure some women have been strippers, even if it wasn't called that.

A mosque is not although you liberals are trying to make it that way.

Wrong. Even though the first formal mosque wasn't built till 1915, the freedom for Muslims to worship has always been here, just like yours to worship Jesus.

Go live over there since you like their way of life.

Ah the "love it or leave it" argument rehashed, come up with something new for a change.

I hope you die in the next attacks. What a piece of shit!

Well that is a new one, wishing death on your fellow Americans. How "loving your neighbor" and "turning the other check" you are.

Higgs Boson

These people are such dualists: they can only conceive of two possible attitudes that one can have regarding the mosque: being diabolically opposed to it, or being fanatically for it.

Frankly, I am personally neither for nor against it - I would prefer a library or a hospital or a homeless shelter, since those things would be more useful. But since so many people simply can't resist the desire to engage in grotesquely self-righteous blather about "respecting the dead" etc, I have to take the side of religious freedom.

What's most depressing about this whole episode is how obviously manufactured the controversy is. People like Cash aren't opposed to the mosque because there is anything objectively bad about it; they are opposed to it because journalists decided to run with the "mosque near Ground Zero" angle, and gave simple-minded fools a opportunity to rant and rave about it in, order to enjoy the cathartic moral rush of being "against" something.

If the mosque was built without fanfare, and six months down the line, any of these people found out about it, they'd most likely just say "huh, fine then".

But since it's a current story, they can use it to get high on the exact kind of patriotism that Samuel Johnson described as being the refuge of the scoundrel.

nutbunny

Although I enjoy fast food and the occasional jiggle-bounce they are not necessarily staples of society. I would much prefer walking accidentally into a group of Muslims on their way to or from a mosque than walking into a gaggle of drunk, burrito-munching tit freaks.

Go live over there? Why don't you go back to where you and your family come from? Back to Europe. What a piece of shit!

EDIT:
@Caretaker -Not to worry. I am from South Africa so I guess I don't have any jurisdiction..... damn!

Yes because the first thing our founding fathers built was a Jiggly Room with a Mickey D's next door. Moron.

Oh and persecuting people for their beliefs, as you all have been doing to muslims and atheists in recent years, is about as anti-American as you can get. This "liberal piece of shit" adheres to American values way more than you ever will.

9/3/2010 12:27:14 AM

Over where? I imagine him pointing just into the corner of the room when he says this.

The 9/11 hijackers went to a stip club before acting.
Obviously not for the sexual thrill. Who wants a cheap thrill when they think they are about to have to account to God for their actions? Clearly it was to reassure themselves that you Americans were so disgustingly perverted and evil that it was worth giving up their lives to oppose you.
I'm sure any new terrorists upon meeting you would have to come to the same conclusion. Then again; not just terorists. I'm sure most of your neighbours have the same opion of you.

Do you praise God with that filthy mouth, Mr Cash?

Fredom of religion, stupid. It's there in your Constitution, just look it up.
I don't have to like "their way of life", to recognize they have the right to any religion they want, or no religion at all, if that is what they want.
A Muslim from Irak doesn't necessarily have the same way of life as Muslims from Pakistan, from Somalia or from Macedonia. There is no "their way of life", really.

9/3/2010 2:10:26 AM

Justanotheratheist

Not that I'm complaining, but if fast food and strip clubs are an integral part of American culture then little wonder that so many people in other countries snigger, roll their eyes, or just plain puke at the thought of it.

Fortunately, freedom of religion (and its corollary, the choice of freedom from religion) are also staples of American life. Unfortunately for cretins like Cash, the Constitution isn't a plaything for fundies to pick and choose which bits they like.

THIS.

Although, to be fair, most non-fundie nations appreciate tits and chips*; just not to the exclusion of everything else.

*not necessarily at the same time.

9/3/2010 2:56:47 AM

whahappon?

That entire comments thread (of origin) is, more or less, a massive, epic fucking fail. Damn. The quoted comment is frightening.

If ignorance is bliss, Cash must be orgasmic. I've never seen anyone this proud of being this willfully ignorant.

Go live where, exactly? I can only assume that since we're talking about the Community Centre that he means move to New York? Maybe I'm missing something.

9/3/2010 4:58:46 AM

dionysus

While I find nothing wrong with strip clubs and fast food (except that I'd rather see people eat less fast food), that's less of a staple of America than the ability to express one's religion as the latter is actually in the fucking Constitution.

9/3/2010 5:48:24 AM

Mister Spak

What if we put a strip club next to the non-mosque not at ground zero? Then the islamists and christianists will have a common enemy. Or maybe the strip club will have a lot of disguised customers.

9/3/2010 5:53:35 AM

aaa

I see this is how non-sane people get their point across. By yelling and name-calling.

@ nutbunny

Hey, don't send them HERE! We have enough idiots as it is, and atheism is finally being regarded as normal in my country. Not to mention that European (or at least British and Irish) concepts of left-wing politics would give them a heart attack. Hell, the Tories are occasionally more liberal than the Democrats.

...Actually, the heart attacks could be a happy ending for everyone. Okay, I'm on board. Send us your ignorant, your stupid, your hateful masses. And we'll see if we can make them die of natural causes.

9/3/2010 6:32:23 AM

Doctor Whom

Go live over there since you like their way of life.

And I suggest you go live in the "America" to which you refer, wherever that is, since it plainly isn't the same America in which I live.

"Those are staples of America you stupid fucking liberal anti-American piece of shit. A mosque is not although you liberals are trying to make it that way. Go live over there since you like their way of life. I hope you die in the next attacks. What a piece of shit!"

This is your God, Cash:

"A mosque is not although you liberals are trying to make it that way. Go live over there since you like their way of life."

PROTIP: There's branches of McDonald's in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan and Bosnia (with Halal burger patties), just as there's Kosher McDonald's in Israel. If there's McD's in Muslim countries, then, according to your logic, that Islamic cultural centre has every right to be near Ground Zero.

Enjoy your paradox, you subhuman bigoted piece of shit.

"I hope you die in the next attacks. What a piece of shit!"

A shame you couldn't have been in the World Trade Centre on that day, then one more decent person would still be living today in your place, you waste of DNA.

Muslims have been in America longer than you or your ancestors probably, dipshit:

Oh, sorry, I thought religious freedom was a staple of America. I don't remember an Amendment to the Constitution stating "The right of hawt women to gyrate to crappy music and show off their bewbies to horny businessmen for pay shall not be infringed."

*edit* I think Higgs-Boson summed it up very accurately. If it weren't for Fox News stirring the shit, we wouldn't have this stink. In fact, I think the first time I ever heard about the "Ground Zero Mosque" was when I was at the in-laws (who watch Fox News religiously) earlier this year. And I believe Fox News has been harping on it ever since.
