Ok, SG1 is science fiction, "Contact" is also science fiction, but the Discovery Channel handles scientific discoveries. So why the fuck is this so confusing and difficult to keep separate to you?

These are entertainment programs, their number one priority is to amuse people and make the time run a little faster.

If you think science consists of a Sci-Fi tv show, a book (i'm giving you the benefit of the doubt on this one), and a TV network.........Ah fuck. I Give up. You're beyond help.

Everyone knows that the Q Continuum is merely a boring rathole for bored immortals.

yuri, certainly. Like many paranoid fundies Mr. (or Ms.) Mills is under the dellusion that every fiction author belongs to one of two groups: the highly and effieciently organized Guild of Evil Athiests and Liberals Against Christ (GEALAC), or the small ammount of Christian Right who are bravely getting the word out.
Where this falls into SG-1 would be that the show is obviously meant to make us think about the ideas is posists even if everyone recognizes that it's fiction. Wait, maybe magic/miracles really were just sleight of hand, or technology that was beyond the understanding of the people at the time...
As you know Fundies are fond of saying, don't fill your head with that garbage... because thought is a fundie's worst enemy.
Discovery Channel talks about Dinosaurs and stuff... so it must also be evil.
Up next month on Discovery... Mythbusters vs the Bible... see the Mythbusters build an ark and try to load a breeding pair of every animal into it!

If you really believe that people believe in sci-fi, go figure who has problems with logic to support their arguments.

Apparently fundies can't grasp the concept of fun and entertainment. Doesn't really surprise me.

You're unfamiliar with the concept of "fiction," aren't you?

Yet another fundie that is apparently incapable of understanding what "fiction" means.

So, we're relying on Stargate SG-1 for science now? And, you should probably look up the word 'logic' in a dictionary before you use it, then you might not use it wrong.

stargate and contact were FICTION. I capitalised it so you could see it clearly and look it up.

Ozma: "Up next month on Discovery... Mythbusters vs the Bible... see the Mythbusters build an ark and try to load a breeding pair of every animal into it!"
I would PAY to see that...good money, too, hell, I'd even help build the Gorram Ark
That said, TV does not equal reality, rmills, one is designed for entertainment, the other is not(unless mocking idiots like you), get that through your thick skull!

They do not understand that logic cant support their conclusions.
And they don't care. They're making it up as they go along. All the rest of humanity knows that.

SG1 at least pretends , a little bit, that there is a scientific explanation for the stargates. Thry use lots of power, they have controls and computers and stuff.
Contact has a device that creates a wormhole of sorts.
Both of these is FICTION, not real, pretend. They dont answer real questions, they entertain. (or try to)
Both Stargate and Contact bring in the concept of a very powerful "creator". In Stargate Universe its a small plot line, un Contact its whatever appears to her as her father.
No one atheist or scientist is saying their "Can't" be a creator, simply that they find no evidence of one , or as yet a NEED for one to exist.
