In fact there is evidence that both Melanesians and Polynesians took slaves from other Islands. There is also evidence Aboriginal tribes enslaved each other in very much the same way African tribes did (and still do in places like Niger).
All the groups I mention, of course, committed acts of cannibalism against those they captured. Modern cannibalism by both Aborigines and Africans is the big secret nobody mentions, although I think Pacific islanders have now given it up.

Not much of a secret that certain Papua New Guinean Tribes practiced and still practice (occasionally) cannabalism. However it seemed to be fairly localised to highland areas of PNG. However I'm not sure that there are many documented cases of cannabalism by the other groups you mentioned. Certainly in Australia cannabalism (usually out of necessity, rather than depravity) is historically much more common amongst white people.
Slavery was pretty common in the entire world. But the reason slavery in the US and Europe is picked is becuase it was based on pure racism and led us to generations of incredibly racist policies, attitudes, lynch mobs and still has effect on a large part of the US because a black man is now President.
Oh, you forgot a few Alaskan tribes, medieval Europeans, and probably a lot of people during WWII.
It's all about the protein.
Those Pacific Islanders you speak of tend to be devout Christians these days. Hell if I lived in a paradise like the Cook Islands I might start believing there really was a God too.
Pukapuka is one of the most isolated places on Earth, and is known mainly for it's production of beautiful women. I don't care where you are from, Pukapuka would be a better place to live.
Not really all that impressive, compared to some of the other tripe Sarah Maid of Albion writes. I don't really see overt racism in this one, and some of what she's saying may be historically accurate.
@Darth Vader: I think it IS the context of us all knowing what the site is about that makes this post worse. We know that the site is racist, so we know she's not only pointing out something that may be historically accurate for its own sake, but to portray people as savages and excuse white people for enslaving them.
That said, I also don't think that everything that comes from a known fundie/racist SITE is automatically fundie/racist CONTENT. This is a fairly weak post to pull.

That is all.
NZ Maori used to eat people up until the 1840's (with a very limited resurgence as part of a rebellion in the 1870's), and took slaves. Big fucking deal - it was a pretty normal thing to do in what was, after all, a stone-age society.
As for modern times, anyone who is "not sure" if pacific Islanders have given up these practices, but thinks that australian aboriginies still do, pretty obviously knows fuck all about either group. I suspect the same applies to africans.
Do you notice that when these dickheads say "its a big secret no-one mentions", it's usually because it's just horseshit? Perhaps no one mentions it because there is no secret, and they are not retarded, unlike yourself.
Did most ancient cultures practice slavery? Unfortunately, yes.
Does it mean it's A-OK to practice slavery? No, so stop fapping about this, Anonymous!
LadyJ,
I agree that the context implies a racist subtext, but there are better "gems" (turds?) on Sarah's blog than this. I haven't researched all of the history of cannibalism (not my thing), but even a racist douche can be right about some things if what she's saying is historically accurate. I give it a "meh."
Fucking well kept secret. So secret, in fact, that only you, Sarah, know about it at all. Not even the tribes of which you speak know about it, its that well kept.
What's the statement here? Yes, races other than whites have enslaved people, but no one does it anymore. What are they even trying to prove? They're really grasping at straws now... And the cannibalism thing is a myth.
Oh, some blacks killed and ate humans. I'd like to point out that whites managed to one-up that by oppressing entire generations, exterminating them and using their remains to make soap, not just once but independantly, several times.
Isn't that just fucking civilised?
I'm sorry, are you saying that the Indigenous Australians (aka Aboriginies), Torres Strait Islanders and other Pacific Islanders are CANNIBALISTS in this day and age? Look, I may not be able to say if they all were before 1788 (though I know that several Pacific Island tribes were, as were the Maori's of New Zealand and really, that's very interesting to read about) but they most certainly do not practice cannibalism today.
So thank you for insulting several very kind people that I know who have every right to be proud of their culture. Thank you very much, I'm sure they'd love to hear of your beliefs...and then perhaps show you other cultural practices and tools...such as hunting boomerangs and spears. Maybe they'll even introduce you to the dingoes that were once trained to help hunt animals! One can hope..
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
