In my opinion, the hate the ACLU engenders is really inexplicable. There are plenty of organizations much more liberal than them, and without the constitutional basis of the ACLU'S opinions. It speaks mainly to the ignorance of the American public about its own Constitution that the only non-governmental organization that genuinely works to preserve it is the object of so much ignorant, indignant rage.

The case in question is this: The ACLU is suing the FBI for violating the 4th Amendment by listening in on the goings-on of a Muslim prayer group. In the article, ONN regular Gary Bauer complains that the ACLU is hindering the FBI's ability to find terrorists, by insisting that the FBI follow the Constitution and not search people without probable cause. He goes on to complain that the ACLU should stop standing up for Constitutional rights and "help protect the United States."
Okay, Gary. That's not what the ACLU is. They're not another arm of the CIA. And they are "protecting the United States" by making sure asshats like you and the FBI don't piss all over our freedoms.
