Quote# 75999

[In response to: American Muslims Ask, Will We Ever Belong?]

If they want to blend in and not impose their religion on everybody else, then yes, maybe they can belong. But Muslims are not willing to do that.

Too easy.

Well, that explains the hostility in Tennessee, where Muslims wanted a mosque in which to blend in and not impose their religion on everybody else, and their reward was hate speech.

The hypocrisy is killing.

TB Tabby

It would be a lot easier for them to do that if your definition of "blending in" wasn't "abandon your entire cultural identity and become exactly like us."

[In response to: Christian Fundamentalists Ask, Will We Ever Belong?]

If they want to blend in and not impose their religion on everybody else, then yes, maybe they can belong. But Fundies are not willing to do that.

Doctor Whom

There goes yet another bottle of mirror polish.

Smurfette Principle

Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the greatest hypocrite of all?

9/12/2010 6:37:17 PM

Those weren't Muslims handing out Bibles outside my work place that one morning. That wasn't a muslim tract I found on my front door on Easter morning. That wasn't a Muslim confronting me in McDonalds after a concert one night telling me that Jesus "turns him on". It wasn't a muslim coworker who berated me at lunch once when I offhandedly mention that I didn't go to church.

9/12/2010 6:57:54 PM

Too obvious.

9/12/2010 7:29:24 PM

Lets admit here... if it wasn't a Christian saying it, they wouldn't sound so crazy.

Zeus Almighty

That noise you just heard?
That was every irony meter in the universe exploding at the exact same moment.

Andrew: hate to disagree, but...

no, actually, I have no reason to hesitate in disagreeing with you. I have never had a Muslim in America try to push their faith on me, ever in my life.

I heard the police are researching a way to replace flashbangs with fundie mirror shine.

They say the effectiveness of something that bright could never be matched.

I second Andrew's statement.

Neither are Christians.

9/12/2010 8:21:03 PM

Neither are Christians, but we allow YOU to live here....

9/12/2010 8:30:53 PM

Aside from the hilarious hypocrisy, the first statement isn't all that fundie. In fact, I agree with that statement; if people want to peacefully coexist with everyone else they shouldn't push their religion on others. And while the second statement is a bit more fundie (being an ignorant sweeping generalization), this is something even some moderates ignorantly think. So this quote gets a meh from me.

9/12/2010 8:33:17 PM

So why did that Enright guy have to ask that cab driver if he was a Muslim before he attacked him?

9/12/2010 8:35:15 PM

My irony just went critical with a 40 megaton yeild. Hope you can afford a few million dollars there gator...

9/12/2010 8:53:48 PM

And yet...

And YET...

9/12/2010 8:55:00 PM

If you only had a shred of self-awareness, you would realize how much of a hypocrite you are.

9/12/2010 8:58:17 PM

Funny. I wonder if we can say the same for Christians who do that.

9/12/2010 9:37:40 PM

Philbert McAdamia

Wait. You mean to tell me those assholes pounding on my front door early this morning were fucking muslims?
s h i t
And I've been pissed off at christians all day.

My bad.

Translation: I'm fine with people being different from me as long as I don't KNOW they are.
