Your first and last sentences say it all. It is all about religion with you, and you've got less than fuckall chance that the world will ever be run along Biblical lines.
Get used to it.

The founders of your country were very careful to keep religion OUT of the government.
How come I know more about the founding of your country than you do?
Justice and fairness for all? Even witches and homosexuals? Good to know.

It was about justice and fairness for all.
And that's why he sends you to hell for all eternity for doing even one thing wrong. Isn't that so just and fair?

Mary Shelley would have a few things to say about that.
Personally, if I am wrong about about the afterlife the I'll be only to happy to join the forces of resistance down below.

Be afraid be very afraid, god has come to kill us all. You sound like that's the way you view your religion, faith through fear and death.
Fueled partly by the idea the when your country loses world power the world will end. Your power and influence will become history just like that of Roman empire, the Caliphate, China, Spain, The Netherlands, France and Great-Brittan and the world will go on…….
And by the way, the Caliphate ended for a large part because fundamental Islam had their way and turned a political system into a religious theocratic system and look what happened to the realm that was the Caliphate….

> God told them how to set up the justice system and He made all of the rules.
Right! Just let us know when we get the first stone slabs from the heavens. (Preferrably with some documentation on how they came to be, because stone slabs are so easy to forge.)
Until then, we unfortunately have to deal with these human-made laws - they may not be perfect, but that's what we have right now.

I understand your argument up to a point. The only thing I don't get is, how does an invisible non-existent thing control a government? Surely the invisible thing is too easily thwarted by sexual behaviour to be in control. Unless, it's not really an invisible thing, but is actually a retarded maniac with a penchant for paedophilia and an extreme right-wing bent who can't wait to reduce the population to a tribe of shambling morons.

Already a bad start.
to me the only way to have a successful government is to let God control it
Okay, but god has to register himself as a candidate and campaign like every other politician. This is a democracy so everyone has to follow the same rules.
That is how this country was founded and I believe why it was the greatest nation in the world
Actually, you're wrong on both. It was founded on the principles of freedom of religion and THAT'S what makes it so great.
Moses and Aaron were the first judges
Sorry, Babylon had them beat to that.
God told them how to set up the justice system and He made all of the rules. It was about justice and fairness for all.
Bull-shit. Is it justice to stone homosexuals, unruly children, and those who work on the sabbath, such as hospital workers and maintenance people?
God was always been in charge of the government and He still could be if we let him.
Again, have him run and get elected and then we'll talk.
It's not about religion, it's about obeying our creator.
So it's about religion then.
If we go against Him, we don't stand a chance.
Unless we get iron chariots.

OK, if God wants to control our government, let him run for president. But he better be ready to show his birth certificate to prove that he's a natural U.S. citizen.

"Moses and Aaron were the first judges. God told them how to set up the justice system and He made all of the rules"
Uhm. no. I seem to recall a funny name.. wossname.. Hammurabi.. yup.
And whaddya know: This bloke even took the time to write his laws in stone, literally. That's why we know how old they are, how useful and such (to be enlightened: Around 1750BCE or so). I dare say that the Code of Hammurabi is the start of the human justice system all over the world.
As far as is known now, the Mosaic Code was written down around 500BCE or somesuch. Before that time there's NO reference whatsoever of an older predecessor.
Even IF we're to accept what every bible-thumper claims, which is that the Pharao mentioned in Exodus is Rameses II, it STILL proves that Mosaic Law can't be older than about 1200BCE.
(Yes, I know Rameses II died an old man in his own bed, and not on the bottom of the Red Sea.. This argument is for the sake of illustration)

"I look at everything from a Biblical standpoint, so to me the only way to have a successful government is to let God control it."
Unfortunately, god doesn't seem to be the best choice for employment what with him being absent for the last few thousand years at least.
"That is how this country was founded and I believe why it was the greatest nation in the world."
It wasn't. On either of those cases.
"Moses and Aaron were the first judges. God told them how to set up the justice system and He made all of the rules."
Prove it.
"It was about justice and fairness for all."
You've never actually read those laws and punishments, have you?
"God was always been in charge of the government and He still could be if we let him."
Yes, because we have to let and omnipotent deity do something.
What is it about omnipotence that you people just don't get?
"It's not about religion, it's about obeying our creator."
Show he exists and make some sort of case that I should obey him and we'll talk.
"If we go against Him, we don't stand a chance."
Your god couldn't drive out a bunch of people with iron chariots. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't stand a chance against a modern tank.

Yeah, just look around the world. All the successful countries are theocracies, huh?
"That is how this country was founded"
Uh, no, it wasn't.
"and I believe why it was the greatest nation in the world."
Uh, no, it wasn't.
"Moses and Aaron were the first judges."
Prove that Moses and Aaron actually existed, please.
"God told them how to set up the justice system and He made all of the rules."
First, you could prove that God exists. That would lend some weight to you agrument.
"It was about justice and fairness for all."
Have you even read the OT? There's a lot of unfairness and injustice in "God's" laws.
"God was always been in charge of the government and He still could be if we let him."
Here again, once you prove God exists, this would be worth discussing. Until then, you're just blowing wind.
"It's not about religion, it's about obeying our creator. If we go against Him, we don't stand a chance"
