God gives up on homosexuals because He has no power against any form of sexual activity, except when that activity is indulged in by wizards, shamans and witchdoctors or priests and nuns. Ask any priest or pastor and they'll tell you that. That is why so many religions try to suppress sex, because they know that it wards off Gods, lightens the coffers and lessens the wizardly influence. Not to mention that it spoils the fun to be had via the entitlement to interfere in the lives of others.
